Day 3/30 of #pleinairpril Tried out a bike path for the first time and saw a cool boat c:

1/2 Pleinairpril 2 I tried to find a spot to paint some industrial/railway zone near my home, there are so many interesting stuff to paint. But there weren't many good spots. I felt so exposed and uncomfortable at the idea of putting my gear down and sit alone a couple hours in that kind of place.

An old project using loose black and white painted textures and projection mapping for creating 3D assets.

The kuwahara node and paintover combo works well with photorealistic models too. Here is a scene that took about 1 hour to create, using previously made assets, a well established startup file, 2-3 rendered images to mask effects. Then paintover to correct the details and add final color tweaks.

Playing with some handmade lowpoly assets. Experimenting with the kuwahara node in the compositor. I'm really enjoying this workflow.

A discussion point I raised at the @allgoodbookshop.co.uk writing group this week in light of everything going on in the world. "What's the point?"

And today I decided to recreate it in 3D! I used Blender, and Ucupaint addon to enable layers for the texture painting. I took some time to create custom brushes to replicate the style of the concept. I love that bird! Here is a sketchfab link: skfb.ly/purES

The sketch from yesterday and this one are based on a DND campain we started last year with friends. I'm still warmed up from heavyjan so I plan and hope to continue this series during february. I started with color sketches based on works from Ivan Aivazovsky and Théodore Gudin. #dnd
