I'm just a voice, pal - a most talented failure, borderline attractive from afar. Host of ARTV. Poseur anarcho-punk. Closeted goth. Occasional writer, programmer and video editor. Apostle of St. Rafejump. 2級 in Riichi Mahjong.

I've been rewatching 2005's Lost, which starts off rather slow and boring, but by the end of that first season, when it finally gets going - that's some fucking television right there.

My favourite recurring track in any video game has to be The Heavies from Bayonetta. The way it progressed from "The Heavies" into "The Heavies (2nd Climax Ver.)" to "The Heavies (SC Climax Ver.)" makes me rock hard. Those songs are all three to four minutes of someone attacking a detuned piano.

In today's minor graphic design victory, I tried to redo the MHGU/XX key art I had. For anyone who has tried to do this, you'll know what a pain it is working with the available boxart. Ended up layering a bunch of profile backgrounds, some renders and inverse colour overlays to make it pop more.

I love that in the span of like two month, the terms "native PC port", "static recompilation", and "decomp" have been completely stripped of their meaning. Instead, it's all some kind of made up LLM bullshit, which people are cashing in for a quick 15 minutes in the spotlight.

I have this theory (fear?) that I might secretly be a lolcow in Japan, because of this one Riichi Mahjong stream I did in January. It's one of my most viewed things ever and it consistently gets more and more attention over time. It is otherwise unremarkable, but I must have done something wrong.

In trying to make a good thumbnail for RE4, I have come to the opinion that all official box-art for that game is flawed on one way or another. Like, it works, in terms of the renders being cool compositions, but that logo is so difficult to place anywhere on that image without fucking it up.

I think I need a setting that lets me filter reviews by word count, at this point. I'm all for quips and jokes, but at some point, I find myself scrolling down a list of reviews and it's all one-liners and boot licking. Hot takes and impulse opinions. Fucking exhausting.

FFXI FREE TRIAL TIME RESTRICTION HAS BEEN REMOVED!! HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED MMO FINAL FANTASY XI, WITH ITS UNLIMITED TIME FREE TRIAL, AND YOU CAN PLAY UP TO LEVEL 75?

Two adevnturers from FFXI with a dragon silhoutte in the background. Text reads "The free trial just got even freer!"

I was only going to do some setup and check out some control things, but it turned from a "try" into a "play". Anyway, to no one's surprise - next on the block is Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

Deus Ex's Morpheus might be the single most memorable truth nuke that game deploys, and it's shoved in some guy's fucking closet.

Every time I make a knife-and-fork sandwich, overflowing with gravy, I feel healed by it like those gimmicky health pickups from arcade games.

I need to stop playing Shogun 2 in the middle of the night, because the the Land of the Rising Sun starts being right outside my window.

Bless her soul, my dear mum is sitting downstairs playing Disco Elysium. Said she stayed up till four in the morning last night, having the time of her life.

Recently found a textbook that has so far been a pretty effective self-teaching tool for Japanese Kanji. It teaches you a few with a low stroke count to start, then expands on them by showing you some where that simple shape acts as a radical in a more complex kanji. An example would be: 日→月→明

Saw someone play some of the demo for for Way of the Sword, just to get an impression, and it's kind of neat how the Oni Gauntlet has kintsugi'd the wounds on Musashi's body. Both a bit of body horror and pretty at the same time. Always imagined those things were grafted on.

Nowadays, when game publishers say a game is going to have a simultaneous release, that includes the development team. All 300 of 'em.
