the other one was bit tooo fantasy for a game that starts out in a neon metropolis... so balanced out with some firearms and a hexmap in classic COMPUTER TIME GREEN. redid all my steam capsules etc. i think they are super readable now, especially on phone/deck.

two characters face off on the background of a green ascii hex grid. one in yellow wields a back-slash for a sword, and a D for a shielD (no pun detected). the other in orange is charging forward, rifle at the ready. probably dont' charge with rifles but idk it's more dynamic. thanks.

also the G in GRIST is a G shaped dollar sign because GRIST is moneybags.

toying with an "interval rpg" idea where you spend a couple of minutes engaged essentially in theory-crafting, then let your adventurers run off into the big bad world and wait literally 20+ minutes real time for them to come back and tell you what happened.

little sketching this morning thinking about what i might do with the grist engine in the future. this is "billionaire bunker diving simulator", a game in which you raid dead billionaire's bunkers for clean drinking water, blood plasma, and crop seed.

a little pixel art sketch of a character wearing a breathing apparaturs and carrying a rifle, in a room with a computer on a desk and some kind of security door or sliding door. there are three flourescent downlights, and a HVAC vent visible.

had this negative-space pattern sitting around for so long i'm stoked to finally have it as a scrolling animation. got me to tidy up the background code too so it will be easier to make bgs built out of premade components going forward. most of them so far have just been fancy noise lookups

Working up some new audio ideas, playing with a 0-coast, into the Makenoise Strega for smearing delay then the output of that into an offscreen mercury X that heavily filters the input before it hits a long reverb chain with some additional filter modulation and chorusing.

just found this image of when i started development on Grist - isolating to care for a child with covid, on my old laptop with the keyboard that dies periodically, in a tiny room with no desk or table. just mucking about making little ascii people to a turn-base against each other...

a laptop propped up on a upside down toy crate, with keyboard and mouse and cushion for a chair.

I am watching the women-led games showcase and I gotta say "play pinball while experiencing the full history of western philosophy" including what might've been an aristotle (?) boss fight is a really unique pitch store.steampowered.com/app/3989550/...

Fallosophy on Steam

Use just two buttons to climb a colossal pinball table spanning the history of western philosophy. Fallosophy is a minimalist game that turns pinball into a quiet struggle against gravity. No score. N...

did you know that if you take a bottle of whiskey, pour it into a large jar and add orange peel, cinnamon, sultanas, star anise, dried apricots, slices of ginger, and wait 6-12 months you will have something absolutely perfect for sipping on while you watch 40mm of rain fall on a winters afternoon.

I don't know what everyone's complaining about. Just go to settings > features > worms, then change the "worms pouring out of my phone" toggle from "yes" to "maybe later"
