Reports coming in of a ballistic missile attack on a Saudi tanker in the Northern Red Sea - nothing from UKMTO as it may be outside the reporting area. This would bring the number of attacks in the area up to 8 in the last fortnight - a serious escalation of violence against shipping.

Overnight has seen few developments for #TheHormuzCrisis. However. You will hear today about talks between Oman and Iran over Management of Hormuz. So far only Iran has released its position on the talks. As you can see. Iran is proposing they administer all traffic… Image from AlJazeera News

"A little dicey"... What is wrong with these people?!? They talk about the death and suffering of others like it is some abstract concept. A ship is currently on fire and an engineer is missing. I bet if his office/home (for a sailor the same thing) were on fire it would not be called "dicey"

Bild

I genuinely didn’t think when writing last night and this morning that this would happen today. 2 French boats and 1 British boat rescued them all. Read that again. People were in danger and were saved because that is the right thing to do!! #MaritmeSafety #EnglishChannel

Bild

Update on the vessel struck in the Strait of Hormuz. A distress alert has also been issued. A fire has broken out and the Third Engineer is currently reported missing. This is the reality of #TheHormuzCrisis. Human life is not worth the profits for shipping company orders.

1/13 I have spent the last few days analysing proposals to use the Royal Navy to intercept small boats in the English Channel. Most discussion has focused on immigration policy or the ECHR. I think there is a more fundamental maritime question that has barely been asked. #MaritimeSecurity

For this evening - back to #TheHormuzCrisis Trump seems to be becoming more desperate and frustrated. He finally may have seen the reason everyone has treated Iran as they have for the last 40 years is this situation was inevitable. I do not know where this leads - he is too volatile to analyse.

1/14 A brief break from #TheHormuzCrisis. I've never really explained why the phrase "put the Navy in the Channel" to stop #SmallBoat crossings isn't, in itself, a serious maritime strategy. It sounds decisive. From a maritime perspective though, it raises far more questions than it answers.

A screenshot of a headline from the second of august 2026 which says, Reform UK unveils plan for largest military operations since world war 2 to stop small boats. Reform UK's spokesman claimed the move would render the border impenetrable, ensuring nobody could reach UK shores via small boat. By Helen Corbett.

Just in case you thought there were new talks going on to solve #TheHormuzCrisis... The Iranians are holding firm to the June MOU terms. And nothing that Trump has shown in the last fortnight seems to demonstrate that the USA and allies could demand more...

Bild

#TheHormuzCrisis Update. Yellow - more threats of violence and death. Green - restatement of same goals, one of which was not a goal before the war. Blue - Walk-back of threats and claims Israel is on board (which I doubt). Red - Spelling / comprehension mistake - he means “parameters”

Bild

1/7 Another tanker was officially hit and reported a projectile strike last night. I can not find anywhere if this is additional to the two that were allegedly hit the day before, or one of those vessels. Regardless... this is more evidence of attacks on merchant seafarers. #TheHormuzCrisis

Bild

So more horror and destruction in the #IranUSAWar... for what reason? No idea. It isn't achieving anything other than killing, wounding or terrifying people all over the Gulf as the attacks and counter attacks continue. This is all such a waste of... everything...

Bild

I can not find this corroborated, denied or even spoken about anywhere else? Two tankers allegedly "struck and stopped" in the southern Hormuz area when they were under protection from CENTCOM... UKMTO - nothing CENTCOM - nothing Wider media - nothing... I will keep digging... #TheHormuzCrisis

Bild

1/14 I have argued for some time that #TheHormuzCrisis would cause tectonic shifts across the maritime industry. Saudi Arabia’s proposed multinational maritime defence coalition, announced publicly yesterday, may be one of the first clear signs of that change.

An image showing the statement put out by the Saudi Ministry of Defense, written in Arabic, stating the formation of the Red Sea Defense Coalition.

I am sorry - It has been a bit of a day / week... If you are following along you can read between the lines and see why... I am currently studying the Saudi Maritime Defence Coalition Statement - of course my Arabic translation skills are a little slow so will take some time... #TheHormuzCrisis

1/8 I didn't get much sleep last night. After posting this, I sat watching another cycle of violence, death and destruction begin to unfold. Eventually I stopped watching because my heart was breaking, and I just started writing. #TheHormuzCrisis

Bild

I was going to try to get an early night. Then I saw this from the biggliest statesman ever… “We are going to hit them because it is our turn…” Warfare, death, terror, violence and destruction is what he is talking about… only war dodging cowards and incels speak like this…

Bild

It was two tankers that were loading that caught fire... This is why we have quick release procedures and fire-wires rigged to quickly tug the vessels to safety. This is a big deal regardless. This is a hit on a US owned facility in Egypt - a so-far neutral country in #TheHormuzCrisis

Bild

Reports just coming in of a storage tanker (land based) being allegedly hit by a drone strike... I am still trying to verify is the "other two gas tankers" relates to ships loading at the port, or if that refers to more storage tankers... Either way - this is more escalation away from Hormuz...

Bild

So I think this is about to get loud again. Iran has proven their own words false by stating they only attack in response after the attack on Jordan last night. #TheHormuzCrisis is not even close to being over yet, despite the news fatigue. I will keep going for as long as this continues.

Bild

The Western Media seem to be approaching #TheHormuzCrisis as basically over and not worth discussing... Meanwhile - dozens are still dying, thousands are being injured and terrified ashore - and 6000 seafarers are still trapped in the Persian Gulf...
