Got the news we're losing our sweet orange boy, my soul cat, after already dealing with incommensurate grief this past year. Honestly feel like life is trying to break me down lately.

I didn't get very good Astro photos (for some reason my brain was mush and totally forgot the camera settings I usually use) but I tried to do some light painting while stargazing in Joshua Tree! (Yes it's a cat)
Tarantula's Heart (May 2026) [acrylic on canvas]. I started working on this piece in August 2025. It was inspired by the JWST NIRCam image mosaic of the Tarantula Nebula's star-forming region. I have changed the colour palette to show more pinks and purples. 🐡🔭🎨

The first joint ET-LISA Synergy Project is bringing together 40+ scientists to build shared code for joint gravitational-wave analyses. Combining observations across different frequency bands will reveal more about the early Universe than either detector alone. 🔗https://lnkd.in/ds5puvMb
Story time! Six years ago, my first book, The End of Everything (Astrophysically Speaking), came out. It was fun to write! I got to share all my cosmology fun facts and dig deep into all the ways the universe might end. I had SO much fun with it, I thought, "maybe I should write another book?" 1/?
Casually googling "Heimlich maneuver for cats" while I watch my cat funnel food into his mouth like he's an excavator
I completed two coasters for our local coaster show, both Project Hail Mary themed. And here they are!

Big evidence for “second generation” black hole mergers With 390 gravitational wave events under our belts, we can actually see a difference between spin-orbit aligned and non-aligned mergers. The switch is at 40-45 solar masses. bigthink.com/starts-with-... #blackholes #physics #astro #space
Big evidence for "second generation" black hole mergers
With nearly 400 black hole events from gravitational waves, we can begin to infer their origins. At least two different populations emerge.
