I was today years old (and 25 years graduated) when I first encountered a fellow program alum from my tiny now-defunct geology department in southern Oregon. Proof that, as horrible as the internet can be, there are still parts that remind us that the world is charmingly, delightfully small. 🪨

Happened to tour the old Alma Mater last week…it has been reduced to an “Environmental Science” wing and program. All petrographic microscopes sold off, no x-ray diffraction, no INAA…nothing but a nice rock collection and some old topo maps left to indicate there was ever a geology program here.

Can't believe we're doing "teenagers should never be given literature that challenges them or is from a culture, time period, or viewpoint that doesn't exactly mirror them" discourse again.

Found in the breakroom this morning.
