Synthetic biology is one of the most rapidly evolving areas of bioscience and technology. At #SBSTTA28 a side-event dedicated to capacity-building on #SynBio highlighted the need to ensure that all Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity can engage in a safe, informed and equitable manner.

In a meeting with representatives of the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity participating in #SBSTTA28, we discussed pathways to foster the full and effective participation of indigenous peoples and local communities in the work of the CBD, in line with Article 8(j).

📢 It is official: Armenia 🇦🇲 has deposited its instrument of accession to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-Sharing with the United Nations, the depositary of the Protocol. Ahead of #COP17Armenia, the accession marks an important step forward for the country and the world.

It is arguably the most consequential biodiversity-related report of the year. The draft of the global report offers an in-depth look at how far the world has gone in the collective race to achieve the 23 targets of the #KMGBF by 2030. 🟢Open for peer review until 29 June 2026
