for funzies I looked up how pop songs get written and found out some people (like Max Martin) will write vocal melodies first and figure out chords later. total game-changer for my own songwriting.

I loathe default presets on audio gear. Turning on a synth that already has dozens of parameters set by somebody else is about as helpful as buying a canvas that already has a painting on it.

IMO, Weezer's "Everything Will Be Alright In The End" is just as good as Blue or Pinkerton and totally overlooked
Cheer Captain@cheercaptain.wang · 3mo agoLast year I embarked on a journey to listen to Weezer’s entire output and “Weezer only made 2 good albums” is one of the biggest pop culture lies we tell ourselves. It’s like “Avatar has no cultural impact”, a way for people to dismiss a thing without engaging with it. Weezer is good actually.
