in case you missed it, the new fun discourse today is that the AI labeler uses SynthID watermarks to label AI content. good, as it should! the fun part: anti-AI folks getting content labeled as having AI-generated content are upset that the SynthID watermarks are being "hallucinated". lol.

Kindly reminder a lot of this stuff was originally adopted for translation and semantic search. When was the last time people had a conversation with someone who didn't share the same first language? Refuse if you want. The west will always be disproportionate on real world use vs upskirting 💀

All of the LLMs stole from me. Most of the big "A.i." billionaires are horrifying right wingers. Consumer-facing generative "A.i." "writing" and "art" tools deskill people, cheat kids out of real education, spread falsehoods and disinfo, and violate privacy. So no, I ain't using that shit.

I think I got kicked from a discord for saying they were doing this and using this excuse > OpenAI's opposition to remand argues the count arises under federal law anyway, that applying COPPA to "artificial intelligence research services is a novel question of federal law," ... Wild

Florida seeks court ruling to officially classify Sam Altman and ChatGPT as a 'public nuisance' — OpenAI fights to keep lawsuit away from a state jury

Trump ally Judge Aileen Cannon has had the remand motion for seven weeks.

I just watched two people argue over one being stupid because they need AI to convert a pdf. I have made a lot of money trying to figure out how you got a TIFF of a word doc in here. These dumbasses couldn't use html and now they're professional PDF converters. 🤡

Ya I can't be bothered to go get the crayon drawing. TL;DR if it's easy to find stuff there isn't enough sticky on the ads In all these years no one has made sane API for common examples of getting a hotel room - because an API doesn't upsell you adult channels or whatever tf Chatbot ads soon 🤡

The entire internet has been moving towards this for ages, it's been a problem since Facebook, but now everything is like this and it sucks ass.

This guy smh Hey Google, do people who have multiple years of midlife crises have a risk of early death? Asking for Bryan. I hope he doesn't try to give the poor thing a diet of olive oil and peanut butter. Fingers crossed he doesn't trademark "No dogs go to heaven" as a supplement stack for dogs.

Bryan Johnson got a dog, stating dog owners have 24% lower risk of dying early

There's a new harness Don't use last week's harness harness this harness that I've been wearing harnesses before you were conceived of, little agent

I wanted to try the Aura Glass theme. I see all the comments are "This is AI slop!" Then I read it's MacOS Tahoe inspired. ... well ffs I don't need any of this Mac slop.

I like Joel Kinnaman. But if I was an actor and I went from For All Mankind to the 80s schlock piece of shit trash movie called Icefall, I would be very very angry at myself

This administration: "Crypto is the future and needs new regulation" Also this admin: "AI cannot be constrained and should never be regulated" Also this admin+Musk: "Computers get very confused with lots of numbers" Also this admin: "AI is dangerous and must be regulated" Comedy is tragedy or smthn

to be honest i don't think "youre lying and also stupid" is a great thing to say to scientists and engineers when they say they see some value in a software tool. not really the same thing as your boss sending you dumb emails in my opinion

My tinfoil hat says this was already market tested and intentional. If the average person hates the new technology but it has good enough traction in business, they create a startup moat around AI. Same thing Musk is doing with gas turbines - now we have data center NIMBY cults

The main reason AI companies went with the obviously bad PR strategy of “AI will take all jobs“ is that they believe it and it worries them

I'm starting to understand that everyone is 12 and likes to rehash Reddit for "research" about whether or not an LLM can math. In a "real" system you would dispatch this to function or sandbox, but either way qwen 3.8 hasn't answered propeller so far. It must be fun living in 2020 still.

If I have one boomerang per donut, how many pies are 3/4 of a dozen?

Thinking
The boomerang-per-donut detail is a red herring — it doesn’t affect the math.

3/4 of a dozen = (3/4) × 12 = 9

So the answer is 9.

Add one boomerang.

Thinking
Done. You now have one boomerang.

The answer is still 9. Boomerangs don’t convert to pies.

Multiply it by 3.

Thinking
9 × 3 = 27.

Divide by 9.

Thinking
The user is continuing a simple arithmetic chain:

3/4 of a dozen = 9
“Add one boomerang” → 9 (boomerangs don’t change the number)
“Multiply it by 3” → 27
“Divide by 9” → 27 / 9 = 3
27 ÷ 9 = 3.

I'm kind of hoping today that if I keep shitposting on AI topics so that I can get on that fabled "Machine Perverts" block list

This whole fucking sad pile of bullshit is exactly why those of you who act like AI is the fucking scarlet letter really, really need to start growing up. Not because of some "AI is the future of art" nonsense, it isn't - it's because you are volunteering to jump in at burning the witch.

Feel like this is gonna start blowing up so i might as well post it, someone who claimed to work on the artbook's layout design said that this piece might have used Photoshop's autofill feature which could have explained why elements looked so warped. Now as for proof if they did work on it-(cont)

It's Friday and I'm kind of tempted to just nuke my bluesky. Ultra spicy hot take: It's 2026. If every post you make is your own personal Tiananmen/Bastille/Stonewall, you need therapy. There isn't an excuse for this and it is exactly the same as the twitterchuds babbling about Deux Vult/MGTOW

if youre in the group of people where folks are saying things like “keep bullying them it’s working”, “yea run them the fuck out of here no one wants them”, “even your cat thinks you’re a pathetic human”, or similar, it doesn’t matter how right you are about the thing you’re talking about.

hey people sorry if some of you breeze past this part but it’s Friday. We do AI discourse on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is for stuff that rocks and is actually fun. It’s in the TOS & the packet you got at orientation. get it together please

This is Ye Olde Work Shaped Object. At minimum be brief. There is little reason to have an AI write for an audience. Before I get accused of being "on the wrong side of history" again (this actually happened), I'm going to mention you should BYOAI and use it if you need more understanding.

post malone ergo propter malone@proptermalone.bsky.social · 2d ago

3) AI is pretty bad at writing things for humans to read with a couple of caveats: it is better- though still not good- at writing for its user than it is for other audiences, and it’s not terrible at outlining. stop using AI to write things for other people to read.

FFS, this is so fucked… 😩 Would it kill the people here to not chase away any tech person who comes here and says something about AI?… I really want tech discussions and communities to hang out here and not on Elon's far-right playground 😐

Mike Masnick @masnick.com:
Multiple people I know have told me that they love the idea of Bluesky, and want it to succeed, but have abandoned it for X because the use agentic tools in their work and find them incredibly useful, and feel that any mention of their usage here leads to hate and ridicule.
I wouldn't bring this up if it was just one person, but it was multiple people since the beginning of August who mentioned in passing something to the effect of either "I'd spend more time on Bluesky if people weren't so anti-AI" *or* "As much as I hate to be there all the useful AI talk is on X."
I'm not saying it's anyone's responsibility to praise AI usage. I agree with much of the criticism of the tool. But for many, many people, it is a useful tech (I have talked about the ways I find it extraordinarily useful, only to have people here mock me, insisting my lived experience is a lie).
I am just noting that for all the people here who say that people should get off X and spend more time here, the reason I keep hearing from people in various circles who would *like* to do that, but don't, is the vociferous belief of many here that there are no possible positive uses of AI.
I'm not telling anyone what to do or what tech to use or what to like or not like. I'm just relaying that the reputation this place now has is one that a large segment of the population who are NOT fascists, saying they don't feel comfortable here because a main area of their interest is...
... considered worthy of being mocked and attacked. And even as I've explained that I've been able to have positive conversations about productive AI usage here with many of you, the reputation of the community here as insisting their own lived experience can't possibly be real has driven them away.
And the thing that tipped me over the edge to posting this here is that three of the people who told me things along these lines are all working on very real solutions to some of the problems of AI

Lots of remarks even today from people producing Work Shaped Objects upset someone created a Work Shaped Object with the magic box. I can't wait until we can all get past this. I've been waiting decades. Spoilers: Our work shaped objects are obsolete and it's time to move on (true pre-AI as well)

It is so remarkably easy to tell this piece is also the output of a text program rather than thoughtful work, even though he's clearly put way more effort into making it seem 'human' than usual. It is stilted and weird and unnatural and it just feels icky all the way through

I kinda wished more of the videos that tell you that data centers are going to drive your power bill through the roof would cover *the other part of this* This year we have a singularity, but it's not only in AI. Solar and energy independence is available and proven in ex: Germany.
