One more lane, bro. Just one more lane and traffic will be fixed forever.

WATCH: The BEST public art is MORE than just art — it’s functional too. This really smart integrated art in a recent project in central OSLO draws you in, supports both place-making and way-finding, and reveals all the mid-block nooks and crannies that you might NEVER know about without that art!
The iconic Kikkoman shoyu bottle was designed by Kenji Ekuan, who also contributed to the design of Tokyo's Nagakin Capsule Tower. #design #metabolism Behind it is an angry racist politician attempting to attack China.
This will be an interminable project. Not only will Mark Carney not live in 24 Sussex's replacement, neither will his successor. Whoever it is may not even be in politics yet, so they might as well get started. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Full compliance with codes, standards, and applicable regulations. What else do you need?
Carleton Martello Tower progress, with concrete spolia recovered from the WW2 structure starting to go in. The contrast with the new GFRC panels will help tell the story of this unusual site. #heritage #WW2 #saintjohn

Taking this news as an excuse to re-post a now 10-year-old sketch of York St as a pedestrian precinct. Thought at the time 2017 celebrations would justify a legacy project and pitched this to various councillors. Instead we got the baffling shipping containers. tinyurl.com/35rrjam4 #urbanism
Work well under way on the interior masonry of the Carleton Martello Tower, as the forest of shoring posts start to be removed. #heritage #saintjohn
The AIA’s appeasement campaign under Trump 1.0 made me wonder just how MAGA the profession is in the US, or if it’s just that organization’s leadership. Hope they’re not still employing that strategy but if they are it’s clearly not working for students: www.dezeen.com/2025/11/24/a...
Architecture no longer considered a "professional degree" in USA
Students in the USA will receive lower loans under the terms of the One Big Beautiful Bill as architecture will not be considered a professional degree.

Not an original idea, but I used ‘Moving Surfaces’ to frame the Aberdeen Pavillion for the ‘Lansdowne’ photo in Andrew Waldron’s architectural guidebook, ‘Exploring the Capital’. The piece does act as a visual and imaginative anchor for the place.
The contempt the city has shown for this expensive and genuinely impressive piece of art it bought and proudly installed is just perfectly symbolic of how it treats both the public realm and its own investments. ottawacitizen.com/news/artist-...
I am thrilled to introduce Isabel Teramura to the Somerset Ward team as a policy and planning assistant. Isabel has a Master’s degree in Geography, Planning and Environment and specializes in housing policy.
Early mural by my 1st year studio prof Winston Leathers now turning into a ghost sign, posing a #conservation question: let it fade away like many others around it or restore its original 70s pop intensity? #modern #heritage
Jesus Christ. A standing ovation — from Liberals too — for Charlie Kirk in the Canadian House of Commons. You can (and should) oppose political violence without doing all this, you know.
A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

LETS TRY THIS: Quote-post this with a “picture worth a 1000 words” of a scene from another city that exemplifies what you’d like YOUR city to achieve on the way to becoming a much better #CityForPeople. The only word you get to include is the name of the city the scene is from.
It was disappointing to learn, after watching Conclave, that IRL the Cardinals' apartments in the Vatican were not actually designed by 1930s Marcello Piacentini on acid. #movies #architecture
I called out the Conservative leader who lives in a 19-room mansion at Stornoway for being a sock puppet for Donald Trump. Predatory and pusillanimous. Selling out our country to the likes of Donald Trump. Not on my watch. www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4bd...

The reviews are in. The professional associations representing Ontario’s engineers tinyurl.com/5n6tuxv5 urban planners tinyurl.com/ytj3xuc2 and traffic engineers tinyurl.com/276hzzxd have all come out opposed to Ontario’s proposed law to override local governments and rip out local bike lanes.
You don’t have to be a “cyclist” to support safe bike infrastructure in your city. You don’t have to ride bikes at all. You just have to understand the FACT that bike infrastructure makes getting around easier & safer for EVERYONE, saves us all public money, & makes cities generally more successful.
