There is no universe where I could ever get involved with a candidate who founded Uncommitted. I don’t understand how voters take someone like that seriously but I also don’t live in Michigan.

so that an organizer won up against a machine and a shitton of money... that means something has shifted here too. Abdul didn't lose Detroit, per se, rather he went up against a community that rightly so doesn't trust easily and are focused on harm reduction. the work starts all over again, now.
one thing stood out to me about Haley's candidacy: it was rushed. Gary Peters could've trotted along to another victory but was like 'not 6 more years of this. I got grandkids' and said nope. Haley's "legislative wins" start AFTER her senate campaign announcement.
1. Haley was sitting congressperson since 2018 (mid term) win, but also rather ineffectual for the seat. 2. Abdul was county's health director and helped payoff medical debt 3. a shit ton of money was dropped here. YT commercials even teens saw, mailed lit daily.

She said that every day she would get a phone call saying at least 3-5 people passed away, and this is just within her immediate circle - think about it nationally.

I think if you’re really young this might not be apparent. But as young as I was during everything that was going on, it was so bad. I know so many people that died from AIDS. I can’t remember all their names and faces. But it was so bad. Ppl were afraid to touch the same cup as someone with AIDS.

I also hate the way black political power is being eroded not just by republicans but by leftists who have also absolutely no gratitude or loyalty for black Americans and our interests.

I’m not loving my electeds backing El-Sayed. I haven’t seen strong support from Black Detroiters and that’s means something to me. I don’t wanna black a candidate that black people locally is not supporting
I came to one of my spots that has a great bar and open space thinking I’d have a quiet little brunch. I have an entire exercise group of about 15 people are standing by me crowding the space and reaching over me and shit killing the vibes.
Came from my eye exam and apparently my reading and distance vision got worse. So now I had to pay $600 for some new fucking lenses. And the new contact lenses I’m getting are multi-focals aka more money. Yay!
