Question for @audaxuk.bsky.social followers: What do you use for planning 200+km rides? About 10 yrs ago I paid for the Komoot global maps upgrade & have been very happy with it. But since the company was sold, the app & website have been messed about with in a bad way. I’m looking for alternatives.

So many UK cycling organisations are trying to encourage women to ride, and yet our Government and local councils are letting us down. It's ridiculous. @cyclinguk.bsky.social @audaxuk.bsky.social www.audax.uk/about-audax/...

60% of women limit how much they cycle due to safety concerns.🚲 Too often women must choose between busy roads with little protection or quieter routes with poor lighting. Both are unsafe. I’m calling on the Government to build the infrastructure needed to make women feel safe on our roads.
The 2025/26 Audax Season had started, and this year Audax UK turns 50 years old. To celebrate this, there are two special awards: * Fifty for 50 * Demi-fifty for 50 ... all points count towards your total. #audax #cycling #randonneur @cyclinguk.bsky.social
Had a very enjoyable day out riding a 200km @audaxuk.bsky.social calendar ride in Yorkshire on Wednesday. Route through the moors was stunning, but some of the hills 😬😬
Mid week 50km ultra. Almost the end of the @audaxuk.bsky.social year. Still a few rides planned but it’s been a heck of a year
Yesterday's @audaxuk.bsky.social ride nudged me over 10,000km for this year. On a map of the world, it'd look like this:
Great Saturday riding the Essex R&R. 214km, 4 stops, 1 drenching, 11hrs elapsed. 05:00… now I go again on a 200km AAA diy @audaxuk.bsky.social
"London Edinburgh London 2025 must have been the best ‘cancelled’ ride in the history of cycling. Quickly relabeled “London Floris London”, it was a mass application of the principle that “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” #LEL25 #LEL2025 #Randonneur #Cycling #Audax #CyclingStories

👀 Coming this August… a new long-distance cycling route awaits! Expect stunning views, historic trails, charming villages, well-timed stops for coffee and cake. Filming location for Midsomer Murders, Vicar of Dibley & Chitty Chitty Bang Bang… 🎬 ⬇️ Can you guess where?
The spirit of long distance cycling is audacious - chapeau to all whose adventures take them beyond the horizon. A calendar of events can be found here: www.audax.uk/choose-a-rid... #Cycling #Audax #Randonneur #AUK

ITV covered the LEL/Storm Floris situation: "ITV Border reporter caught up with Ian McBride as he reached the checkpoint at Brampton in Cumbria." #LEL25 #LEL2025 www.itv.com/news/border/...

Henri Desgrange, the founder of the Tour de France, dreamed of a race so challenging that only one rider would finish. Thanks to Storm Floris, this year's London-Edinburgh-London audax may attain this dubious accolade. #lel2025
As you cycle back, the peloton should grow in number... a party peloton on the return. That'd be awesome! 🎉🚴🎉🚴♀️🎉🥰
UPDATE 19:30 MONDAY From tomorrow morning, we're asking you to start the Southward journey. The weather still looks challenging and we are not confident we can declare the northbound route safe. Our southbound controls will be open to welcome you and look after you. #LEL2025 #LEL25
#LEL25 is truncated due to weather: riders to start heading southbound from Tue morning #LEL2025
Go anywhere nice for that week off in August, Dave? Aye. I spent a few days at an austere retreat, where we took regular cold showers, ate experimental cuisine, and the beds were hard. Managed to top up my tan though. #LEL2025
None of this is breaking news to dot watchers - I've been crashed asleep since finishing my volunteering shifts. Looking at where tracked riders are paused: Hawick 7 Brampton 20 Mickleton 58 Richmond 258 Malton 144 Hessle 25 ..if this translates to all riders, Richmond could be chaos!
I'm just waking up enough to catch up with #LEL2025 news and storm Floris. I love that the organisers have paused the entire event for at least 8 hours while the storm passes. I have been praying for all concerned. Looks like once the storm is over the ride will be glorious.
London-Edinburgh-London update at 15:30 Monday MESSAGE TO RIDERS *** UPDATE MONDAY 1530 *** Thank you to everyone for their help, good humour and understanding whilst we pause LEL. We will keep the pause in place for at least another four hours and will update you all again at 1930. #LEL2025
Three night shifts done (all overtime). Now to get a few hours sleep, then dot watch for #LEL2025 & #TCR #TranscontinentalRace
How's your Monday morning going? Whatever you're doing, spare a thought for the five Beacon riders who started the @audaxuk.bsky.social London-Edinburgh-London yesterday and are currently heading into the eye of a storm! #LEL2025
Just crossed the Humber Bridge to Hessle. There is some serious #TypeTwoFun being had here tonight. #LEL2025
Final fettling done and time for bed. It was three years ago when @karlonsea.bsky.social talked me into (suggested) this, now it’s just half a day away. Bonne route everyone. #LEL2025
