"Mmm. We acquired Granny Smith's for the baking needs. Several people expressed missing the actual act of cooking and baking - so we went in that direction."

She walks over to an apple tree, inspecting several fruits before plucking one that looks perfect, taking a bite. “Mmm, my family had apple trees on our property, but they were cider apples, hardly an enjoyable snack.”

"I do miss Krakoa. My best friend survived cancer thanks to your drugs." She smiled sadly, standing a ways back to give Emma room to look and wander. "If you see something you'd like, feel free to pick it and try it."

“If only the flowers of Krakoa were still readily available… then this garden could save so many more…” She has a wistful look on her face, not even aware she was speaking out loud.

When the door opened, the garden covered half the roof top. New York summers were harsh, so mech and fabric gave the plants a bit of shade. The greenhouses were large, keeping season fruits and vegetables with a few apple trees at either ends. ~

“Then I’ll sample a fruit.” She smiles, then chuckling. “Oh you’re definitely out of line, but I appreciate the confidence. I’ll gladly donate, generously of course. Perhaps even with a bit of pomp and circumstance, very little though. A single photographer.”

"Unfortunately, the only flowers you'll find upstairs are ones from fruit trees." The button was hit, and the elevator began to move. "I don't mean to step out of line, but I do hope you decide to donate Ms. Frost. We have a lot of plans to help with food scarcity." ~

“A clinic, how nice.” Medical supplies. That’s a lead. “Hmm, the rooftop garden sounds lovely. I myself prefer a white rose on my blazer.”

Mei returned shortly, setting out two glasses, but also an empty water glass. "For Peter, whenever he gets home." "Tell me, he did speak of you as if you were part of his extracurricular activities. Do you also wear a mask and fight crime?" ~

"It's fun drinking a glass now and then. Especially since I don't really get drunk. I just hallucinate sometimes." As Aunt Mei was dealing with the glasses, Larina popped the bottle open with a clean pop. She was the perfect guest, helping around as much as the host would allow.

"Medical and storage." She corrected shyly. "Technically both storage, but our largest benefactor runs a clinic a few blocks down and uses the basement here as additional storage as part of our deal on the lease." ~

“Those two buttons are basement levels, correct?” She comments on them. “Loading docks I can imagine.” She’s hoping that by coming to her own conclusion, she might pick up on a sudden correction.

"Of course Ms. Frost." She seemed relieved, and puzzled. Suddenly realizing who she was and what she must have been doing. "Of course. Please, right this way." Using her badge she unlocked all the buttons on the elevator except for the bottom two which needed a physical key.

A gay brother, relatable. She exits her mind, there's nothing useful up there for her. "Darling, I won't hurt you. Though I might bark if you stare too much~"

"Something that nice looks like it's for drinking. Peter may not partake, but I do. Do you? Should we crack this open now?" She removed the apron she was wearing and moved towards the cabinets where she made Peter keep the wineglasses she got him.

"Thank you, but I need no coffee. Been running in circles anyway. Being busy keeps you awake." She reached in her bag and pulled out a bottle of white wine tied with a bow. "If you don't like it, use it in cooking. It's amazing."

Cynthia. Pre-med, raised religious. Gave it up because her brother was gay. Spent a few years homeless, and FEAST helped her get her GED. She was an open book. She's scared of a woman like Emma. Powerful. Beautiful. Blameless.

"Yes yes, of course~" She nods, trying to recall which floors were keyed. "Hmm? Darling you seem nervous~" She gently cups her cheek, at the same time taking a peek inside her head.

"Yes, ma'am. I must insist that the third and second floor remain brief and mostly off limits. Those are the temporary dorms, so out of respect for our clients privacy - we would only tour them after giving them all proper warning." ~

She was amused by the woman's nervousness, unbuttoning the top couple of buttons of her top. "Sorry it's just a bit warm... hmmm I'd think I'd like to start top down. Floor wise."

"And I appreciate that about you. I know Peter does, dear." She pulled a lasagna from the oven, and she set it aside for it to cool. "Coffee? I know it's late but you two kids are night owls."

"Yes, but I don't like just sitting on my bum and doing nothing," she pouted and stood up to try and help. "How have you been holding on, though? Everything good behind the Parker scene?"

"Please. You take care of my Peter so much. This is the least I can do." She turned back and smiled, giving her a little wink.

"You know... you don't have to do this. You sure I can't help you at all?" Being a guest was never Larina's forte. She didn't like being useless, especially when someone was offering to feed her or take care of her.

The twenty something smiled, looking a little bit nervous as Emma was utterly striking. She knew he name, just couldn't place it - so she rightfully assumed she was some sort of celebrity or mega doner. "Absolutely Ms. Frost. I have a temp badge for you... A proper one will take..." ~

"Bye darling, I'll give him a kiss for you~" She waves goodbye as the door closes. I'll be the judge of that. "Cynthia, I would like the full tour."

"Thank you Emma. He really does love you. You're all he talks about when he calls." The elevator dinged. Letting the younger woman go she nodded and smiled. "Give Peer my best. Feel free to tour the grounds and see what we do. There's nothing untoward, I promise."

“I love him with my heart on my sleeve. When I’m with him I don’t even sleep as a diamond…” She gently pulls Mei’s hand away, lacing her fingers with hers before giving her other cheek a kiss. “I won’t let anyone hurt him.”

Mei returned the peck on the cheek, before reaching up and very gently touching Emma chin. "Don't hurt him. He adores you like I haven't seen since... He cares. And he leaves himself open to be hurt. Keep him safe for me, alright?"

She follows Mei out, now knowing which side of the family Peter got one of her favorite features of. "Nice to meet you Cynthia~" She takes her hand and kisses it before turning back to Mei. "And to you, Mei." She does the same gesture, also leaning in to kiss her cheek.

"Yes, my goodness where are my manners." She rose, smiling again. Composure regained. Leading her back out, she paused. "Cynthia, this is Emma Frost. She has a standing invitation to view and visit the premises. Could you have a guest badge issued? Emma this is Cynthia, my assistant."

She makes a note to check her memories for something like that. "Well, care to walk me out?"

A solid cold wall was all she met. Like stone. Not quite her diamond form - but her mindscape was hidden behind a shell. Nothing like what she'd seen, but did seem oddly familiar.

She senses her guard slipping, taking a peek while she's not paying attention. "He means the world to me too... I was already hurt once in an attempt to hurt him... I won't ever let such a thing happen to me again."

"Peter means the world to me, Emma. He's all I have left of my family. I do not love the life you all lead - the risks, the horrors..." She leaned forward, her hands clutching the cup as she let her guard slip, just a little. ~

"Still, clearly the family has strong genetics~" She winks. "Personally I killed my sister, but that's a tale for after a much stronger beverage." She gets up, stretching out her arms. "I'm glad we could come to an agreement, Mei."

"Not from me, from his mother. My sister. You would have liked Chui-yee. She had a good eye for fashion. I think she would have liked you immensely, by what I know of you're reputation." She smiled, noting her gaze. "She could go on for hours about the latest European cuts or Japanese silks."

There's a small glimmer in her eyes... both her and Peter have failed to turn up leads until now. "Will be done." She eyes her up and down. "I see where he gets his looks from~"

"That man..." She frowned. She knew the name and did not try to hide it. "Give me twenty-four hours."

"Someone called Psycho Man. Managed to stick this little radio thing on me that scrambled my memories... god I almost killed a friend of his..."

"What details do you have about the person who tried to harm you and Peter?" She sipped her tea, leaning back and relaxing in the plushness of the seat.
