Day 23 of Auctober! There is no one type of person who is more likely to be autistic. We span every generation, ethnicity, gender, etc. Each autistic person is their own person. Not every autistic person is going to fit perfectly into the stereotype that society has built up of us #auctober
The finished artwork! (Apparently I didn't announce this as Auctober, WOW I am out of it)
Auctober Day 22: Infinity This makes me think of the Marvel Infinity Stones. There's a spoiler++ scene in the Loki series that applies so well here. As a math student, infinity seemed powerful, god-like. Endless possibility felt overwhelming with opportunity. Like it broke the brains of my fellow…
Auctober Day 22: Infinity
This makes me think of the Marvel Infinity Stones. There's a spoiler++ scene in the Loki series that applies so well here. As a math student, infinity seemed powerful, god-like. Endless possibility felt overwhelming with opportunity. Like it broke the brains of my fellow students to come to grips. Most just avoided talking about it. Ultimately, for me, it came to represent the unknowing.

Day 22 of Auctober! The reason the infinity symbol was chosen to symbolize autism was to show that autistic people will always be autistic. No cure can change us. The autism ends when we do. Autism is a part of me, forever and always, and I perfectly happy with that! #auctober
Auctober Day 21: Spoons Do not try and bend the spoon; that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth… there is no spoon. Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends; it is only yourself. Spoon boy in "The Matrix." Neo needed to learn to let go of his logical grounding in his…
Auctober Day 21: Spoons
Do not try and bend the spoon; that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth… there is no spoon. Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends; it is only yourself. Spoon boy in "The Matrix." Neo needed to learn to let go of his logical grounding in his mistaken understanding of reality and face the truth that existence as he knew it was wrong.

Day 21 of Auctober! I really like spoon theory. It's a good way to explain why sometimes I can't do something. I don't have enough spoons. They were used to do other things. I also won't have the same amount of spoons each day, and somedays certain tasks cost more than the day before. #auctober
Day 19: Safe Space (Sorry, I just got my flu and covid shots and my energy level tanked.) #auctober #auctober2026

Auctober Day 20: Emotional regulation
Difficulty with this creeped back into my life a couple years into my marriage. As a bachelor, living with roommates, I developed strategies to deal with this stuff. Occasionally, I'd have work issues, but my bosses were understanding, and things structured in a way to solve the problem. Marriage is the first environment where accommodations didn't really work. So, it's the first time I'm having to deal with it mainly solo.

Day 20 of Auctober! Emotional regulation can help stave off meltdowns, but when they don't, they can help you get through one. I'm prone to panic attacks, and grounding myself with the 5-4-3-2-1 technique helps me calm down enough to where I don't feel like I'm having a heart attack. #auctober
Auctober Day 19: Safe Space As a kid, I had a couple of safe spaces. Primarily, it was my bedroom, where I had my things. But, I also had one no one knew about: under the ramp to my father's workshop. Selling that house made me sad because it was giving up my old room and that workshop. What made…
Auctober Day 19: Safe Space
As a kid, I had a couple of safe spaces. Primarily, it was my bedroom, where I had my things. But, I also had one no one knew about: under the ramp to my father's workshop. Selling that house made me sad because it was giving up my old room and that workshop. What made my room special? First, my father used a door to make a desk in one corner.

Day 19 of Auctober! A safe space doesn't have to be a place. For me, it's my partner! Having moved cities and countries, it's been really hard to establish a physical spot as a safe space, so mine became a person. Where ever they are, that's where I feel safest. #auctober

Auctober Day 18: Recharge Sleep doesn't help me recharge. I feel like both autism and ADHD are forms of sleep disorders. Both impair it in different ways. ADHD shifts the circadian rhythm. Autism just reduces the quality. Recharging comes from interests. We need to do things we enjoy to recharge.…
Auctober Day 18: Recharge
Sleep doesn't help me recharge. I feel like both autism and ADHD are forms of sleep disorders. Both impair it in different ways. ADHD shifts the circadian rhythm. Autism just reduces the quality. Recharging comes from interests. We need to do things we enjoy to recharge. That feels counter intuitive. Like, doing enjoyable activities should drain one of energy, so how does it recharge?

The finished artwork! (Does the youtuber AstralSpiff have a bluesky? as I've learned the one with his direct username is not him, so idk how to tag him in this.)
Day 18 of Auctober! Listening to music helps me recharge. It helps me get my head back on straight, and refocus. There have been times at social gatherings that I've had to sneak away and put my headphones on because my social batteries were low, and I needed to recharge. #auctober
Day 17 of Auctober! Hyperfixations, not to be confused with special interests, are short-term, dopamine fuelled romps. My brain latches onto something and refuses to think about anything else. It fills my brain with happy chemicals until the feeling fades, and I move on to another one. #auctober
