Also I am begging people to realize that: 1. Paper media actually does have its own value and probably does help you think in certain ways, 2. The GenAI slopification of higher ed is real, 3. Laptop bans in classrooms are STILL ableist are ALL true, and there isn't an easy answer.

I once corrected a major fault in a “well researched” report by a major Jewish organisation on disability inclusion. They booked me for a “consult”, it went on 5x the allotted time, and was never paid. Ghosted after. Now those same folx are getting the spotlight for inclusion using my work.

I'm not going to be relitigating COVID lockdowns or mask mandates. Both were necessary measures that saved lives. If you cannot accept the curtailing of even the minor of freedoms in the name of public safety, you have demonstrated that you do not give a solitary fuck about the rest of us.

I'm old enough to remember when Carville and Clinton were the dipshits that old guard Democrats like Tip O'Neill and Ted Kennedy didn't want in the tent.

one: bye two: the main problem with the modern Democratic Party is that, by definition, it basically includes everyone who is not a Trumper - which is why the DSA has been correctly prioritizing primaries this means you’re in a big tent with people you think are dipshits but you gotta deal

There's a reason so many autistic adults find Jewish text study and feel immediately at home. The tradition rewards obsessive precision. It asks you to sit with a question for years. It treats disagreement as holy.

I study & teach Jewish sacred texts and autism. Both have taught me to pay attention to what gets pushed to the margins. Sometimes the part everyone dismisses is where the truth has been waiting.

Now is the time to overcome your fear of Talmud and make yourself a master of it. Beginners super welcome. Your tradition is YOURS

In my own work, calling someone or something an "outlier" can function to preserve a comfortable average and confirm expectations, dismissing exceptions so the norm doesn't have to be revised. If "exceptions" are patterned, calling them outliers is doing rhetorical work, not descriptive work.

Martin Buber had a phrase for turning a person into a problem to manage - I-It. And another for meeting someone fully while staying fully yourself - I-Thou. Most of what gets called "good communication" is actually I-It.

They call it obsessive. Restricted. A symptom. For autistic folx, a special interest is what regulates us. The one place the noise stops. The one thing with which we get to be fully, unmistakably ourselves. Stop pathologising things that keep us afloat.
