I know times change, people change, this time its different, etc. But Steve Yegge writing 20 years ago “I believe, quite staunchly I might add, that the worst thing that can happen to a code base is size” is cosmically funny. Its the perfect bit
Think at this point the only certain empirical outcome out of regular LLM use for tasks is that it turns the user into an extremely annoying person. Myself included
until the law catches up to reality, you can eat, with total impunity, as many homunculi as you want
You truly are a genius thought leader to be asking a question so multifaceted and deep. My programming skills aren’t just Ruby and Python, they’re any type of gem — and any type of snake!
Not sure I understand the consternation, I would have thought teaching children about boundaries and how to adhere to terms of service from a young age would be a positive thing
This is so tragic it's actually incredibly funny
CHOTINER: And you didn’t know this person - what did you call him again? CELEBRIMBOR GREATEST OF THE ELVEN SMITHS: Right, his name was Annatar but CHOTINER: And you taught him to create a ring harnessing all his malice and cruelty? CELEBRIMBOR: Well I mean I was deceived CHOTINER: So you’ve said

Havn't been impressed by a tool like github.com/astral-sh/uv in a long time, to the point where I'm almost in disbelief. Installing the Flink python developer dependencies (excluding grpcio) takes 2 minutes with pip, with uv (with all caches cleared, totally fresh, etc) takes... 12 seconds.

We’ve been giving the crows we encounter food on our walks, and now theyre pretty happy to see us
Two new pieces out of the kiln. A flower pot (with a drainage hole in the bottom and a foot ring cut to allow water to flow out of it) and a large, bulbous vase.
Here's some of the ceramics i've been making lately. Currently trying to get all my christmas throwing done before the studio gets way to busy to get anything fired on time. Lots of vases, trying to get better at throwing tall.
