I always find it fascinating that attempts to say that LLMs are not intelligent end up with pretty good definitions of intelligence. “Assessing the most probable answers based on our priors” is what we humans do all the time. If anything, humans do it much better because we have more layers of it.

It pains me to say it, because I have an enormous amount of respect for Prof. Hannah Fry, but I have now seen two short-form videos by her where she is confidently wrong about the science of the every day 😔

Related: fuck "spicy" as a term in general. It's a way for prudes to pretend that they don't get horny by relabeling "sexually explicit" with a cutesy word. So they can pretend THEIR horny is classier/cleaner/better than the horny experienced by the rest of us deviants.

This is so weird to me. Editing large numbers of files is something our existing tools are already really good at. Sed, awk, and tr all exist for this. Most scripting languages like perl exist to make it easy to work with text programmatically. Why do we need to invoke LLMs for this now?

But how do I pick just one of them?

don't let long combos put you off fighting games. long combos are easy. the hardest combos are like "5MP, 2MP > 214K". that's the real secret.

I sometimes wonder how many political candidates would lose to the option to reopen nominations (RON) if it were an option on the ballot.
