When my boomer neighbours lose it in the buildings group chat cause i say flat out youre not gonna get me to call the coos on unhoused people and to stop expecting me to do it or cosign the dehumanizing shit, i shouldnt be surprised yet here i am…gagged.
Girl save it
The New York Times’s body of reporting on the American Medical Association’s stance on gender-related care for minors is accurate and factual, and remains so despite the recent statement from the Chair of the A.M.A. Board, which contradicts the A.M.A.’s own statements. www.nytco.com/press/fact-c...
Has PornHub ever given academic researchers access to their data? I feel like if they have someone within the sound of my voice will know…tysm
This actually is so fucking egregious. People who are or have been incarcerated matter. Full stop. Ive seen other folks name this as a domino in the line toward toppling adult trans care. Even if it weren’t, no one should be subject to conversion torture.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is running a conversion therapy program. We are calling on everyone — not just those who are transgender, not just those who have loved ones in prison — to recognize what it represents and to oppose it.
Oh and one last thing is I now have semi fleshed out drafts of two papers that are like the remainders I can’t make sense of with empirics and I haven’t written in this more humanistic vein in a while. Feels kinda nice.
Also have you ever seen presenters decide there either was something concurrent to their session they’d rather be at or that there weren’t enough people there for their panel and so they just dip?! The thought would never have occurred to me to just bail on my own panel…
This past week was the first time grad students of mine presented at a conference and I couldn’t be more proud and ALSO it feels so weird! I was just a grad student! They both killed it for real.

Despite being a police and prison abolitionist so many of my favorite tv shows are copaganda series 🙂↕️
If your research is outperformed by an LLM then say that. Mine isn’t. Most of my colleagues whom I’ve spoken to about this aren’t worried. Why is the LLM, a marketing tool in search of a dependent user base kits makers can subscribe to death, suggesting we might be outpaced? 🧐
Sorry, Bluesky, but I have to say it: AI can already do social science research better than most professors with PhDs. And, for the first time in my life, I really have no idea what happens in five years. Things are changing already, we just need to wake up.
The peer review requests never cease. It’s mid February. I’ve done six.

Have my peer review of teaching this term and my reappointment due this AY. We just got our permanent residence too. Everything keeps happening so much…
We keep hearing we have to embrace penitent Trump voters, but if you don’t want to, remember this: 77.3M Americans voted for Trump. But 90M didn’t vote at all. It’s more palatable (and better strategy) to reach the latter than to make room for people who chose bigotry and now want to cry about it.
I keep seeing more articles about how they regret it now that the damage is done & I truly believe that if you have any genuine interest in salvaging what’s left of this country then whether you want to or not, you can never forgive these people. You can never let them live what they did down.

This was today. My heart is so full and im SO exhausted. Back to Van tomorrow, but, as always, leaving a piece of my heart here in NC.
Visiting my alma mater to give a talk on my book project (which is VERY MUCH in progress mind you). It’s really a dream come true and feels like a homecoming. WGSS at UNCG shaped me in such profound ways and without my training there I would not be the scholar I am today. Simply thrilled!
Hey all, here's a post at @ssrc.org about how anti-trans talking points are getting wrapped into Google's AI search results. AI search not only cites anti-trans disinfo, but sanitizes it, making practices like conversion therapy sound legitimate and safe.
Anti-Transgender Disinformation in the Age of Algorithmic Search Summaries
Recently Google introduced a feature in its search engine that algorithmically creates summaries of one's search results. Though it could be viewed as a useful tool, researcher Anna Beers argues this ...

This is SO awful and wont stand the test of time as a good decision. Genuinely shocked it appears to be a done deal.
