This is a great example of "blame inversion" (coined by @ashtonindc.bsky.social) where danger very clearly caused by cars is blamed on anything else: parents letting their kids play outside, kids riding bikes, etc.

Teachers, imagine a (very hypothetical) tool that gives students and teachers quick, accurate, equitable, and high quality feedback to a wide-range of question and answer types. As much as grading sucks, do you think we would we lose something by not going through the slow, human grading process?

Remember when Hertz turned out to have gotten lots of people arrested by reporting cars as stolen when they’d just been returned to a different location or the renter had (with Hertz’s agreement) extended the rental? It’s not a great way to get repeat business, I suspect.

The below image is fake. This is frustrating bc we have to be skeptical of everything, to think hard about moon phases & corresponding "Earth phases", to look closely & recognize half of Africa is missing. So when we do see an amazing image of space (there are lots!), we can't just enjoy it.

Saw the play The Monsters at Berkeley Rep last night, which has been aptly described as "hits hard and hugs harder." Ngozi Anyanwu (also the playwright) & Sullivan Jones were incredible in physically and mentally demanding roles, and I left wanting to just go home and cuddle with my 7-year old boy.

Ugh. So many candidates for CA governor, and yet I appear to be running out of people I'd consider voting for.
