I think about this at least a dozen times a day.

people end up unable to see depiction as anything other than endorsement when their entire cultural diet is escapist fun and reassurance. they see something make them uncomfortable and can only assume people are watching horrible shit as vicarious pleasure and are horrified.

"He knows I like it," Thancred says, because he's used to this comedy routine. "Is that all?"
Meteor's slow, deep voice, too kind to live up to the potential of a bedroom commander, says: "He told me not to ask if you were alright anymore-that you'd tell me if you needed something."
Thancred flashes a grin. "And you don't trust me?"
"I trust you," Meteor says, bringing a hand to brush over Thancred's face. He thumbs at his cheek. "l simply don't want to push you. Not when I'm lucky enough to have you between my legs."
Thancred trills a bit inside at the praise. He asks,
"And what does your man think of all this?"
Meteor cringes.
"Go on," Thancred prompts, leering and bold.
Meteor relents, "He says you look like you were made for this."
