Iran ☢️ program. Assistant professor at @GWU. PhD - I read on war and nuclear strategy. Posts are my views

Re-reading Robert Dallek’s magnificent book "Nixon and Kissinger," I can’t help comparing the current debacle created by Trump’s war of choice with Nixon and Kissinger’s predicament in Vietnam.

As Sina Azodi in his book said, "Iran's nuclear program is not simply about centrifuges, enrichment levels, or technical milestones. It is a story of sovereignty, resilience, mistrust, and ambition - interwined with decades of geopolitical rivalry and mutual suspicion."

U.S.-Iranian negotiations will take a long time to conclude, so "Iran and the Bomb" by my friend and @imes-gw.bsky.social colleague @azodiac83.bsky.social is truly essential reading.

We have a new #bookrecommendation from Amb. (ret.) Gordon Gray, Iran and the Bomb by Sina Azod. "You won’t find a more topical book, and I hope Mr. Vance, Witkoff, & Kushner read it. The book draws widely on both U.S. & Iranian sources, including primary sources & interviews with key officials.

A balanced, detailed & authoritative coverage of the Iranian nuclear issue. It is especially good for including Iranian viewpoints and reasonings behind its nuclear policies. I've been working on Iran for decades & there is much it taught me. Essential reading for the Iran policy crowd.

My friend and @imes-gw.bsky.social colleague @azodiac83.bsky.social shares his insights about regime politics in Iran in this episode of "Compass Points." Justin Logan, Firas Maksad, and Dani Pletka also participated in this informed discussion hosted by Nick Schifrin. youtu.be/04MuMRrDRgA?...

Is it time for the U.S. to reassess its Iran strategy?

Both Rubio and Trump said they expected Iran to respond to their latest peace proposal by the end of the day yesterday. Did Iran ghost them? There’s been no word of a response today

Very excited for the debut of my book Iran and the Bomb- and many thanks to my friend Ambassador Gray @ambgordongray.bsky.social Register to attend here imes.elliott.gwu.edu/events/iran-...
