Writer of short stories + TTRPGs: horror, sci-fi, weird. I like animals, quilting and bright colours. Pronoun agnostic - anything goes. TTRPG work: @caesar-ink.bsky.social Internet-anxious, please be kind.

My secondhand conversational takeaway: Slasher film genre as sexual kink; kinks are an interesting aspect of adult sexuality; therefore Camp Miasma explores 'Slashers are inherently misogynistic' vs 'This is my queer kink, why would I denounce that?' Also a radical stripping away of the male gaze

I honestly think the slasher homage of it all was a weight around the film’s neck. The real and interesting complications of real adult sexuality cannot actually hang in the same space as sentimental attachments to genre culture and media. It can’t synthesize those two things in an interesting way

“She had nightmares in which everyone but her knew the secret of who to be. In these dreams she’d walk from person to person, often familiar faces from school, begging them to tell her [...]” “Chrysalis” by Santiago Wilson Heredia, new flash fiction out today at OKD: buff.ly/SI0iDwk

The background of the image is a collage of grainy photos of countrysides, namely valleys and rivers. The foreground is made up of 80s-like translucent blocks and ovals that are colored dark magenta, blue, and green. Hanging from the top of the image and into the center is a chrysalis with water droplets on the outside. The bottom left section of the image shows a faceless woman with a happy face stamped on her head walking to the right, head down. Sad Jack stands in front of her as if leading her.

I've written a horror novella that's set over an August bank holiday. A lot of the feedback I've received from (British) beta readers is about clarifying the bank holiday is fictional. To me, all bank holidays feel fictional. What even are these?

I saved Solace House to read in as close to a single sitting as I could. Right decision! I will now be using what remains of the weekend to ponder...well, reality, I think. This book will be getting a second read, posthaste

Solace House by Will Maclean. The book cover shows a Dali-esque melting house with faces in the shadows of its own walls
