The New York Times called me to request I take over for Ross Douthat. Unfortunately I had to inform them that I do not feel like it.
Buddy I’m operating on levels of dismissing things as slop that you are not prepared to comprehend
Until recently, AI fiction has been easy to dismiss as slop—but not anymore, @willoremus.com writes. He reports on how “Daggermouth,” a best-selling romance novel, is raising uncomfortable questions about the future of writing: theatln.tc/AkahoImx
I had criticisms of Nolan’s Odyssey, some of which I share with Emily Wilson, but her review is a bit much. Imo.
I liked the Odyssey, didn’t love it. It suffers from Nolanisms. Clunky, expository dialogue and too-quick cuts. But it’s definitely a visual spectacle, and it captures the weird atmosphere of the poem well. The Circe and Hades sequences are standouts. 1/
Seated for the Odyssey. I will get to the bottom of this once and for all.
Just ate a lamb shank at the local Greekfest that has me ready to renounce the filioque forever
My two year old drank like half a glass of my very strong black iced coffee pray for me
Watching Obsession, a movie about what it’s like to have a girlfriend
Just saw the Odyssey. Very strange adaptation. Why was Seth Rogen in it? Why did Penelope tell him to divorce his wife? I didn’t get it.
Grace has a children’s book about Aristotle and she pointed to Aristotle and said “dada”. Will be riding this high for a while.
Found out my daughter knows what “ice cream” means the hard way award

Dave Portnoy releasing a book is a real head scratcher because you have to like Dave Portnoy to want to read it but you also have to like to read
Just been a crazy round of 16 this year. Powerhouse contenders like Brazil, the United States, and nearly Argentina eliminated. Guess that’s why they play the games.
Belgium is a country that was explicitly created to serve as a buffer between France and Germany to stop them from going to war with each other. Utter failure of historical purpose. You know what did stop France and Germany from going to war? That’s right. USA baby.
Over the last 10ish years I have done a complete 180 from being a policy-first voter to a character guy. You vote for people. You have very little direct control over what policy decisions they will make. Don’t show your ass supporting someone that doesn’t deserve your support.
99% of the time when someone tries to cut you in line or some similarly small social infraction you should just be the bigger person but 1% of the time you have to be a dick about it
post from someone with a crush: woke up squirming in agony like a worm on hot pavement again post from their crush: just had a lovely sandwitch 🙂
There’s no better feeling in this world than when people you invited over to your house leave your house

Talking to a recruiter tomorrow about a senior level role, potential path to C-Suite in the future were I to get it. I am getting interviewed for a few pretty senior positions which is both exciting and pretty intimidating tbh.
