Beachy Head: Pied Flycatcher this morning in wet autumnal weather.

Beachy Head: Quail singing from set-aside field audible from Belle Tout 20:40 found earlier by CB, plus Large Conehead Crickets singing.

Beachy Head: My first Willow Warblers of autumn, 4+ flitting around in nettles behind Cadence Cafe, Yellow Wagtail over, a few Swift thro east and Sand Martin. Bob had a Whinchat at Birling Gap y'day.

Beachy Head: The fine weather continues, a few Swift and Sand Martin east this morning into the stiff NE wind, Reed Warbler and Cetti's Warbler (photo) in Shooters, my first 2 Sedge Warbler of "autumn" y'day. Headland's looking like the prairies.

Beachy Head: 20+ Sand Martin and Yellow Wagtail this morning as the "autumn" migrants continue trickle through, Tree Pipit, Reed Warbler and first juv YLG last few days too. The circle is never broken.

Beachy Head: An early juvenile Common Redstart flicking around Shooters was an unexpected "autumnal" face this morning, only the second I've seen in June here. Also a light passage of Swift overhead.

Beachy Head: Quail singing and Hobby hunting over same field at Cornish Farm this evening.

Beachy Head: Entering into that high summer period, croaking Nightingale this morning in Shooters, along with Cuckoo y’day seen by RL and Sand Martin all birds leaving, quietly, slipping back south over the channel and beyond.

Beachy Head: A recently fledged group of Common Whitethroat join the many new editions on the headland. Despite the weather taking a dive the place is full of young birds calling out to be fed.

Beachy Head: A snippet from yesterday’s Marsh Warbler which was present, briefly first thing on 29th.

Beachy Head: A Bee-eater heard in Francis Bottom at 06:20hrs, Crossbill over and Hobby thro this morning.

Beachy Head: 2 Honey Buzzard together over the hollow at 10.40hrs and a single Turtle Dove (my first here since 2023!) earlier in the morning.

Beachy Head looking like the Med. the last few days, lean pickings for me over this intense high pressure period although Andrew Whitcomb found a Red backed Shrike and fly over Bee-eater y’day.

Beachy Head: A nice varied seawatch this morning, highlights included 4 Pomarine Skua, an inbound Osprey making land fall, my first Swifts of 2026, and a nice selection of waders. (Whimbrel in pic)

Beachy Head: Finally caught up with this Ring Ouzel that's been hanging around since 8th March! Otherwise quiet on the land for me.

Beachy Head: Contexually slow passage of Dark-bellied Brent Geese this morning, barely c500 before 08.30, although a Pale-bellied Brent' east at 07.44hrs was nice.

Eastbourne: Many thanks to Harvey for turning up this zinger of a Wheatear at Sovereign Harbour today. What a treat and my first EVER in February. Spring is offically here!

Some nice, sunny birding around Eastbourne. c130 Russian White-fronted Geese between Cuckmere Valley and Sluice Lane Pevensey, a distant but very much alive and healthy (not poisoned or shot) 2cy White-tailed Eagle, missed 4 Tundra Bean Geese that appeared breifly at West Rise.

Beachy Head: The autumn keeps giving, after finding my second Pallas’s Warbler of the year last week, moments with a frustrating “Swift sp” on the 8th and today Bob Edgar found this unseasonal Red-backed Shrike at Birling.

Beachy Head: Pleased to find my second Pallas’s Warbler of the autumn, east of wood this morning (suggestion two birds maybe involved) First confirmed sightings since 3 arrived on the 6th last week. Woodcock near the pub.

Beachy Head: Finally saw the lingering Yellow-browed Warbler above Francis Bottom, nice to see a return to form for these over the last few autumns. Also on the move, Crossbill, Siskin, Redpoll, Woodlark and several 100 Starling.

Beachy Head: Pleased to find this Melodious Warbler y'day, unfortunately in a private area with no public access. A decent day all around with good numbers of common migrants.

A last minute weekend in Tarifa,Sunday saw thousands of Raptors and took an unexpected turn when @beachyheadbirder.bsky.social and I found a Blue-cheeked bee eater.Initially heard calling,then some disbelief but picked up on wires.Thanks @ingloriousbustards.bsky.social ‘s group lending us a scope!
