Just finished signing up to pay many bills at the new apt. Scheduled friends and family to help with the move in. And picked out a bunch of furniture. Big things happening, I guess. Life goes on.

It's been about a week since my dad passed, and it definitely isn't feeling less strange yet. He really was the best I could have asked for, and I already miss him a lot
Looks like the cat is officially out of the bag! I've joined the incredible team at @rfpress.bsky.social as their newest Reader/Editor! Excited to see these first couple pieces I've picked come out!
And a special shout out to my team - @kelkel.bsky.social @skybarett.bsky.social @melissacuisine.bsky.social @maybemargot.bsky.social & the one and only @beansbaker5.bsky.social with his first selects in this here issue! Much love to all!
AYO! Guess what day it is? We're going back to a simpler time. Tell the uncle who wears his flip phone in a belt holster. www.roifaineantpress.com/blog #WritingCommunity
Man, I am immensely disappointed by the new Strokes album. And I really like that band!
Why the hell is Domino's sending me a push notification about a meal deal at 9:23p.m. on a Wednesday? It's almost like my fridge ratted me out for drinking a cider like 45 minutes ago.
It’s Christmas in July, people! “A Holiday Shopping Odyssey” by @johntures1.bsky.social re-re imagines the epic tale as a shopping trip gone awry, with several Michigan State “Spartans” failing to make it home after defeating the USC Trojans. Read it Sund-ee 7/26.
We reached our first milestone already! Next benchmark is $3k. Thank you so so so much for all the donations and sharing of our fundraiser.
I hate to do this but I must do this. Please share. Details on the website. Thank you. gofund.me/936db73ca
Getting this when I move bc this is so my brand of twee lmao.
I realized the other day that I missed the 10-year anniversary of my writing being published anywhere. But then I remembered that the reason I didn't repost it is because it was a comedy essay about looking forward to the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot.
I love the way a good piece of criticism can make you rethink how you feel about a piece of art, even a little while after you finish it. Definitely softens my opinion on S5 of the show.
I still really liked THE BEAR's final season. But there's a productive conversation to be had about the show's conceptual approaches to the last few seasons - and the way they silently undermined the show's race to the finish line... www.patreon.com/filmcrithulk...
Been cracking up lately spinning "Rocking the Suburbs" on repeat. It's just so good lmao
Goooooooood morning! Guess who has an announcement? It's US. Are you tremendously excited? Can you simply not wait? Well, you're going to have to, because this was just an announcement letting you know we have an announcement. HAH!
Don’t know who to credit for this. But it is how I feel.
Pitched one to an editor and he said to send it over. Gonna need to give it one more pass first, but hopefully soon!
Idk if this is a good thing or not, but I've been starting a lot of essay drafts lately with the working title of "Against __________." Maybe I'm just getting (more) crotchedy as I end my 20's.
Shane just wants to go home. Stranded in L.A., he must somehow make it back to Georgia. As he hitchhikes his way across America, he encounters transphobia, crooked cops, swindlers, kindly folks, drugs, tragedy, and a high speed chase. ko-fi.com/s/781b0b9855

For some reason today feels like a day to listen to Neutral Milk Hotel while I'm writing

You guys ever submit to lit maga moments before they close to feel like you're back in college?
Also, I'm working on an essay about Hades II right now, but I can only work on it a couple hundred words at a time because the end of that game makes me too mad. Just put a small session in and now I probably won't sleep for another hour lol
I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I just got access to help edit one of my favorite mags on the web today.
Red card this, red card that, this is the only red card you need
AND...with both of our editors in the same state (finally) your chances of a lightning-fast response are pretty good, if you submit TODAY.

Watching blue beetle (2023) rn and it's the best superhero movie of 2003.
i’m sorry but farming is cheating. you didn’t scavenge those cucumbers, you grew them in your field on purpose and “found” them later. and that’s bullshit

The end of The Bear was fine I guess? Less intense/stressful than previous seasons? IDK, it just didn't hit the same even though I don't think there was anything "wrong" with it.
