Still time to sign up for the Commonwealth Fund Lecture being hosted by @ucl.ac.uk this Thursday at 17:30! Professor Eliga Gould (University of New Hampshire) will be speaking on the American Revolution’s origins as an act of armed resistance and its continuing legacies!!

Such a shame that women rarely drive main plotlines in histories; it doesn't mean they didn't in their own time. If we saw the past the way we see a street scene today it would be populated w 50%+ women. A useful reminder that history isn't what happened, but what we say about what happened.

TODAY: the first day of our exhibition, ‘REVOLUTION 250’. It tells the story of the American Revolution through the British archive. We also look beyond the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration to encompass further stories, including Indigenous nations and Black Loyalists.

Display cases at Revolution 250 exhibition and vertical design incorporating elements of UK and US flags in red white and blue. 1784 map of North America on display in Revolution 250, alongside projected interview with experts and members of Indigenous nations. US Declaration of Independence on display at Revolution 250.

Happy Evacuation Day! While Boston celebrates the retreat of the British in 1776, let's also remember the Black Bostonians who found their freedom by leaving Massachusetts with the British. Pompey Fleet was a skilled printer enslaved by the Fleet family (printers/booksellers/auctioneers) in Boston
