UK’s social media ban is a threat to individuals’ privacy and a win for big tech companies seeking to collect even more information about their users. It is interesting that harmful laws are often framed as efforts to protect children. We have seen this in the context of trans youth healthcare.

Wearables, and the flood of data they generate, inch closer to entering the clinic
Wearables generate a lot of health data, but it exists outside the clinic for the most part. New moves from Oura and Whoop may change that.

Dear all, is there anyone here in a clinical ethics program as their post doc? I need some advice on how to apply for these positions! :)
I was today’s years old when I used Elicit for a literature review and I am so impressed that I don’t know if we ever going to need humans to publish systematic reviews! Any thoughts on this??
I felt it was more important than ever to make sure we’re still talking about, thinking through, and reminding ourselves that micro-moments of joy and progress toward flourishing futures 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦. So, let me introduce you to the Feb issue of AJPH. 1/
Our February 2026 issue is now online! It features a special section on LGBTQ+ health and well-being with select articles covering sex-positive disease prevention messaging, mental health of gender-diverse adolescents, and adoption in the LGBTQ+ community. 🔗: buff.ly/cEoL1EE

It's NOT in Your Head: Surviving Medical GASLIGHTING
Have you ever left a doctor's office with more questions than answers, feeling like you weren't heard, or worse, like you were crazy? You're not alone, and it's not in your head. This is the story of medical gaslighting, the silent epidemic where women's symptoms are dismissed, minimized, and blamed on their emotions. Join us as we expose the shocking history of healthcare bias, tracing a direct line from the archaic diagnosis of "female hysteria"—once blamed on a "wandering uterus"—to the modern-day dismissal of legitimate pain. We’re investigating why women with everything from autoimmune diseases to heart conditions are experiencing delayed diagnoses, and how this systemic failure is causing not just physical harm, but severe anxiety and healthcare PTSD. We'll also pull back the curtain on the multi-billion-dollar wellness industry. Is it a safe haven for women failed by traditional medicine, or a predatory system profiting from our pain with unproven promises? From crystals to cleanses, we’re asking the tough questions. This podcast is more than a discussion; it's a toolkit for patient advocacy. It’s for every woman who has ever been told her pain is "just stress." It’s time to stop second-guessing ourselves and start demanding the care we deserve. If you’re ready to reclaim your health story and fight back against a broken system, you’ve found your community. Follow us now to join the conversation, and leave a 5-star review if you believe it's time for change—it helps this vital message reach more women who need to hear it.

Dear Elsi people, I have a manuscript on trans data in biobanks. Where do you think is the best venue for it to submit?
One argument used by transphobes in court against puberty blockers is that if children assigned male at birth is “how will they experience sexual pleasure if their genitals don’t develop [from testosterone].” And I think the appropriate response is: “Objection—skill issue!”
Also, why only female category? What if an alien like super man go compete in male category? Oh what? super man is a man? Ok biological experts my mistake!
The end result of this is that a bunch of cis women athletes are going to find out they're intersex.
I will be on Job market this fall. Please send my way any bioethics opportunities you came across! Thanks!

Why do bioethicists LOVE the concept of “equipoise” in shared decision making? It’s like a general criticism that they make on any SDM paper.

Oh my god. They removed "transgender" from the page about Trans woman Sylvia Rivera's page at the National Park service. "Sylvia Rivera began fighting for gay and _____ rights" WOW.
The National Park Service has removed "T" and all mention of transgender people from the Stonewall National Monument. Trans women were some of the most influential activists behind the Stonewall movement and what followed. 3 articles of clothing laws were why raids happened. Erasure.
Am I being unprofessional? I don’t know. Does it matter?
I wish I was dead. Academia doesn’t want me. No country wants me and I feel the loneliest. I should have been writing my dissertation but all I am thinking is that no matter what I write it ends up being illegal or not counted as philosophy cause it is “unoriginal” according to my department.
