It’s not “do good work and be successful.” It’s doing good work, talking about the work, figuring out how to get your work to the right people, accepting that good work is slower than bad work and finding a path through that anyways

This is completely bonkers and I want an entire documentary just about how they made it
Oh this is just *delightful*: for the opening of his documentary on the history of music on SNL, Questlove produced “a high-speed, six-minute DJ mix of SNL music highlights”. So good you’ll want to watch it way more than just once. [kottke.org]

Every year I buy a bunch of gift cards to local restaurants as gifts for family members. Every year I’m surprised that only like 10-20% of the local restaurants I find have a way to purchase a gift card directly on the website, so for every 15 sites I visit, I’m getting like 1 or 2 gift cards.

Field report from Munich: the Christmas markets are indeed magical 🎄 💫
Just landed in Munich, Santa was there, and the bag handlers (elves, I assume?) put these Santa chocolates in the handle of each one. I’ve never been so delighted in my life.
Listening was very on-brand this year. Everywhere has been my top jam lately. Cake forever. Being Dead was my fave band discovery at SXSW. Loved Texas Hold ‘Em. Taylor remains queen.
Annual reminder that Spotify Wrapped is a great example of how you can build a fantastic data product without ML or AI
The #1 piece of clothing I wish I owned is my HS math team shirt, which was a navy and white polo with a number on the back. The number was the same for everyone, 2^0, because “second to none, we’re number one”. Absolute perfection.
Today in balancing parenting and working during a holiday week, a new record: school starts at 9am, parade at 11:10am and dismissal right afterwards 🫠
Perfect day for new Father John Misty, thank you universe

My husband just told me that he always knows when I’m going to send a text because I say the “hey” to start out loud 💀
Spending a good chunk of my week on financial forecasting, something I weirdly love but haven’t done much of since leaving early startup world (so it’s novel and a nice change of pace right now). Sharing some observations!
