On this date in 1936, the Summer Olympics opened in Berlin, and the efforts by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party to demonstrate the superiority of the βAryan raceβ were undermined by the success of African American athletes, notably Jesse Owens.

July was my most boardgamingest month ever, largely thanks to the camping weekend we had. Lovely. #boardgames
I would rather clean 2 toilets than change the bedding on 1 bed.
Our neighbour's spring has run dry. Ours is slowing down. The grass is getting crispy. I live in fear of fires, already. Soon of course it'll turn to floods, as the rain comes all at once onto hard ground. And this in Wales.
They say humans are the most intelligent species on the planet! Where is the intelligence?

I am just a consumer, crushed under late stage capitalism, asking it to deliver a large milkshake that is worth the calories
That is also why this slide/poster from @loudowne.bsky.social and @rufflemuffin.bsky.social resonated so much with me: bsky.app/profile/ruff... Itβs such a burden if service designers have to do that all. Thatβs why having a transformation manager nearby as an ally is fantastic. 5/X
@martinjordan.com I made sure this got produced just for you Service design is in A2 If you make it to UK soon we can give you in person π good.services/shop/p/15-pr...
Itβs a role we created about 3 years ago after realising having multidisciplinary teams work w/ low-capability depts doesnβt work, or at least not smoothly enough β cause there is such a wide cultural, mindset and experience gap. Their tagline is: βWe ensure that change isnβt an accident.β 1/X
That's kinda sorta how it worked originally, at least for digital service delivery, with spend approvals and centralised service assessments. They had teeth and it was controversial but shit got done
So GDS moves to DCMS. Bit of a shock if I am honest.

I'm so disillusioned, I almost don't even care who gets the FIFA Peace Prize next year
We had the inaugural (and first of many, I hope!) Tyn Yr Wtra Boardgaming Camp this weekend, and it was nice. #boardgames #wales
What would be utterly amazing would be if the USA manager dropped Balogun for the Belgium game, acknowledging the grimness of Trump's intervention and FIFA's feeble bootlicking. Would be hugely sporting and win him and the US team fans around the world.
NEW: FIFA has suspended the red card suspension of USMNTβs Folarin Balogun! He will play Monday against Belgium! www.nytimes.com/athletic/742...

People gotta stop using the Nazi site for their PR and then complaining that Nazis are on there. Times change. Realize that it became 4chan and leave.
My parents were low income so I often just browsed game shops as a kid. Sometimes mum let me get a game. It'd cost her whole day's wage and a chunk of our rent. Dad once told me to check under the car seat and Pokemon Red was there in a bag. Ownership isn't the only thing we lose with physical media
Infinite growth on a finite planet is a physical impossibility.
Everybody in the "climate space" (which means everyone on earth...) needs to understand these mind-blowing figures. Google's "total electricity consumption jumped from 31 terawatt hours (TWh) in 2024 to 43 TWh in 2025." In ONE year. The AI corporate arms race is eating the world.
NEW BLOG FOR YOU Google's energy consumption numbers in their new climate report are mind-blowing. 2 years ago they flipped from linear to exponential growth, and their climate impact is blowing out, too. A WILD testament to the obscene bloat and waste of GenAI: ketanjoshi.co/2026/07/01/g...

The hypocrisy of our species makes my head spin, as I click through Facebook reels... "... This incredible animal can live for up to..." "... Grill this animal for 20 minutes......." "... Please help us save this animal because it's rare..." "... Check out the shoes we've made out of this animal!."
