People+planet-centred Service Designer / Product Manager Service Manual & Service Standard, GDS, DSIT Woke he/him

On this date in 1936, the Summer Olympics opened in Berlin, and the efforts by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party to demonstrate the superiority of the β€œAryan race” were undermined by the success of African American athletes, notably Jesse Owens.

That is also why this slide/poster from @loudowne.bsky.social and @rufflemuffin.bsky.social resonated so much with me: bsky.app/profile/ruff... It’s such a burden if service designers have to do that all. That’s why having a transformation manager nearby as an ally is fantastic. 5/X

It’s a role we created about 3 years ago after realising having multidisciplinary teams work w/ low-capability depts doesn’t work, or at least not smoothly enough – cause there is such a wide cultural, mindset and experience gap. Their tagline is: β€œWe ensure that change isn’t an accident.β€œ 1/X

That's kinda sorta how it worked originally, at least for digital service delivery, with spend approvals and centralised service assessments. They had teeth and it was controversial but shit got done

What would be utterly amazing would be if the USA manager dropped Balogun for the Belgium game, acknowledging the grimness of Trump's intervention and FIFA's feeble bootlicking. Would be hugely sporting and win him and the US team fans around the world.

NEW: FIFA has suspended the red card suspension of USMNT’s Folarin Balogun! He will play Monday against Belgium! www.nytimes.com/athletic/742...

My parents were low income so I often just browsed game shops as a kid. Sometimes mum let me get a game. It'd cost her whole day's wage and a chunk of our rent. Dad once told me to check under the car seat and Pokemon Red was there in a bag. Ownership isn't the only thing we lose with physical media

Everybody in the "climate space" (which means everyone on earth...) needs to understand these mind-blowing figures. Google's "total electricity consumption jumped from 31 terawatt hours (TWh) in 2024 to 43 TWh in 2025." In ONE year. The AI corporate arms race is eating the world.

NEW BLOG FOR YOU Google's energy consumption numbers in their new climate report are mind-blowing. 2 years ago they flipped from linear to exponential growth, and their climate impact is blowing out, too. A WILD testament to the obscene bloat and waste of GenAI: ketanjoshi.co/2026/07/01/g...

a chart showing google's rising energy consumption - huge, and rising faster than ever before

The hypocrisy of our species makes my head spin, as I click through Facebook reels... "... This incredible animal can live for up to..." "... Grill this animal for 20 minutes......." "... Please help us save this animal because it's rare..." "... Check out the shoes we've made out of this animal!."
