I can suspend my disbelief while watching film in most respects except for when people use microfilm to look at old newspapers AND QUICKLY LAND ON THE EXACT PAGE THAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR. Without slowly scrolling through countless pages, without having to nudge the image or adjust the contrast.

I welcome the idea of a minister for AI: it is a massive change which could affect every aspect of society, economics, the climate and even humanity itself. But if this minister is just supposed to act as a tech booster rather than taking a holistic approach, they’ll be worse than useless

When something is so obviously a terrible idea, it is ok to just...say no thanks and ban it. We don't have to wait 15 years and then slowly ban if after a whole bunch of irreperable damage has been done to individuals and society.

We should not accept this framing. Universities are not businesses, they do not operate on the same principles. Universities have a social function distinct from profit-maximizing firms. They produce and disseminate knowledge, especially knowledge that is not produced by the private sector.
