Did I get the night I wanted? No I never want to spend hours waiting on Wayne County to count votes. Did I get the results I wanted? Absolutely, there was Abdul El-Sayed, Will Lawrence, Donovan McKinney federally, along with a ton of statehouse wins including Abbas Alawieh and Chris Gilmer-Hill.

A good sign for Abdul is Michigan’s huge Democratic turnout advantage: 2018 Governor primary 🔵 Dems - 1,131,447 (53.3%) 🔴 GOP - 989,525 (46.7%) 2026 Governor primary 🔵 Dems - 1,494,323 (61.6%) 🔴 GOP - 929,879 (38.4%) Primary turnout isn’t everything, but still bad for the GOP
As bruising as this primary was, I appreciate Stevens for committing to elect El-Sayed to the Senate this fall. Stevens supporters, McMorrow supporters, and everyone else have a place in Abdul’s coalition. It’s time to unite and defeat Mike Rogers.

Haley Stevens outspent Abdul 8:1 in ad support, had Whitmer’s endorsement, and Obama’s “soft” endorsement. Despite ALL OF THAT, she still lost by 14,000 votes in the primary. El-Sayed did really well considering the circumstances he faced
I think this explains a lot of why Stevens overperformed expectations
HUGE victory for the left, as Lawrence wins his primary in MI-07. He’s run a populist campaign focusing on fighting data centers, which is popular across this working-class swing seat
The biggest lesson here is that polls, even internals, can be wrong in ways we don’t expect. As they say, politics is full with surprises
Unsurprisingly, MGP and Braun will advance in the general this November. 15% for Heinrich in this swing district is pretty significant, though.
El-Sayed is overperforming the benchmarks in rural areas by TWELVE and in Trump-leaning areas by EIGHT Good argument that Abdul is more electable in the general
BTW, I see people dooming about El-Sayed’s chances. Much of the vote counted so far in Detroit and rural areas is absentee, which favors Stevens. Despite that, Abdul is still up 3%. Now it comes down to the Election Day vote.
This is gonna be a real close one, I feel. El-Sayed is the likely favorite to win the primary, but he needs to hit the ground running FAST against Rogers
Cori Bush has definitely flopped since she lost in 2024. Bell isn’t lazy unlike Clay and she was very out of touch as Congresswoman (bad services, faith healing etc)
Missouri is also rejecting the GOP-backed measure to require citizen initiatives to win *every* House seat by an EVEN BIGGER MARGIN
