I've been thinking about HOPE lately. How it's a radical act. How I want to live in it, to write from it. How so often, I've failed at that. But I'll try again. And again.

I was asked "How can I invest in my writing if I have no money?" My answer: read craft books & anthologies (local library & Libby app), listen to writing podcasts, look out for free events/classes, join a writing group, and most importantly: establish a regular writing practice.

I have a client who is starting to submit poems for the first time. Which lit mags do you recommend?

Unpopular opinion: I love buying/reading a used book that has been annotated, underlined, well-loved by the previous owner. It feels like I'm in conversation with them. (So long as the original content is still readable, of course.)

There’s a lot of bad news right now in the literary world, including things that affect me. Despite all, I’m feeling grateful. I’m going to spend my life writing beautiful words, supporting other writers, and being a force for hope in the midst of it all. That’s enough. 💜
