Classical scholars’ criticisms of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is the modern equivalent to medieval theologians arguing about the number of angels on the head of a pin. Nolan showed the value of classical literature at a time when the study of the humanities is disappearing from higher education.

Noon at Hilltop. 78F with just a hint of a breeze. Slight layer of haze over Palos Verdes. I missed yesterday due to the awful heat - it's so much better today. No lizards, boids or doggos and nobody's at the overlook. Very strange. Three couples on the grass. Did one lap around the circular path!

Of course we all know what would happen if this person wasn’t a white Christian, but also, this kind of proselytizing is not about converting or even delivering a message to anyone. It’s a self-aggrandizing act of domination. It’s an actual sin of vanity.
