New pod is up. #20! Holy smokes. Find it here and on all your little "platforms." Where else you gonna find commentary on both DCC and a Booker longlister, we ask you that. bookshopofbeverlyfarms.com/cool-stuff/p...
Oh, did one of these books just get longlisted by @thebookerprizes.com?
It's possible we forgot to post when EP18 dropped last week. We were on vacation. But we STILL POSTED A PODCAST. How's that for dedication? Super dedicated, we think. Least you can do is check it out.
Have you heard EP19 yet? Some great stuff in the Harpman discussion, if we do say so ourselves.

Looking forward to this one.
HYPERSCALE is hitting bookstores on October 20. Preorder it now! In the book, I dig into how the data center boom is pushing our planet past its breaking point, and the incredible efforts of people pushing back against the profit-driven interests of Big Tech. Get your copy: hyperscalebook.com
Okay, EP18 of "Four Books a Fortnight" is up. Maybe it's a day late. I sort of lost track of the days. Whatever. Go listen. It's amazing. bookshopofbeverlyfarms.com/cool-stuff/p...
Are you telling me that the company with Vonnegut's asshole as their logo isn't making good design happen? I won't believe it.

Just a note that it's not a conspiracy: Billionaire owners of newspapers really do quash stories about themselves. Odd! Thank you @ninamclaughlin.bsky.social for your awesome indie books newsletter. substack.com/@ninamaclaug...
It's very hard for us to look at this graphic and not sing in our heads, "Dolly all the time, Dolly all the time, Dolly all the tiiiiiime," to the tune of Eddie Murphy's "Party All the Time." Sorry.
EP17 is live! We love the @donkeycommish.bsky.social and you should get it right now! Plus, we've got a new romance and a couple of books off the TBR pile. Listen up!

Also, still a bit of time to submit stories for the first issue (though we're thrilled with what we've got so far!).
Oh, and did you see the logo for the new literary mag? How's that for consistent brand, eh? Want to submit something? Find the deets here: bookshopofbeverlyfarms.com/cool-stuff/s...
"Voidverse" is literally about a universe where everyone lives on variously sized rocks that are falling in coordination through a giant void of breathable atmosphere.
Newest pod is up! Lots of good stuff this fortnight - "The Lilac People" may genuinely be a new and interesting WW2 novel, which is hard to do! bookshopofbeverlyfarms.com/cool-stuff/p...

Okay, so "These Heathens" isn't out until June 17. We were just excited to talk about it! Definitely something to put on your list. Also: "Lilac People" is out on @catapultbooks.bsky.social, which has had some really great titles in the last couple of years - "Bog Wife," "Berry Pickers," etc.

We are dipping into this "updating historical things in books" discourse and we just want to say, "what the actual fuck are you doing/thinking?" Kids WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THE TAPE DECKS AND WHATNOT.
We like things we can hold in our hands, we like fiction written by humans, we think artists deserve to be paid. So yeah, we’re launching a literary magazine called Six Stories a Semester. Coming this September.
Oh, wow, new literary magazine just dropped: bookshopofbeverlyfarms.com/cool-stuff/s...
Just read "Station Eleven" in the woods of Yellowstone and I can assure you that it's good for your health.
It's a huge mistake to "adjust to" or "adapt" to generative AI. There's rarely been a more clearcut situation to reject vehemently for so many reasons. One reason beyond those that apply now is the future capacity for proactive manipulation and distortion. We need less outside interference not more.
The Saxophone Colossus! Three years ago, I had the chance to read Aidan Levy's awesome biography of Rollins, then talk to him and Mainer/archivist Carl Smith. Such a fun conversation: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/e...

Oh, and then we forgot to tell you the pod is up. But you probably knew that. Man, the Dave Eggers is special.
Sorry about the delay in posting the podcast. Just know that it contains the comment, "You don't get morality points for writing a children's book!"
Oh, yeah, EP14 is up and streaming! And is that ... two books of poetry?!? Not messing around this episode (and it was recorded live at the @nbptlitfest.bsky.social !)
