Our community-run art gallery flooded. Building management will get the space back into habitable condition, but we lost a bunch of stuff and we're closed for who knows how long. We're a tiny volunteer org that spends like $20K a year, so a $3,000 emergency is a big problem. Please help us out:

Anyone who has read Copaganda knows that we are in the crucial early moments of virality after an extra-judicial police murder. It's extremely important for ICE that the media plays along with the idea that what happened is contested and there are multiple perspectives.

There are moments the mask is removed, and all the lies evaporate. This quote by a District Attorney in California is incredible. He says the volume of shackled poor people brought to court--what he calls the "cattle call"--makes it impossible to consider them as individuals.

The problem is the time and cost involved when judges have to consider each person's
circumstances at arraignment hearings, said Yolo County District Attorney Jeffery W. Reisig, a
former CDAA president.
"What Civil Rights Corps is doing is not helpful, and I look at it with a high degree of skepticism,"
he said in an interview. "Proponents of zero bail want to cut corners to reach the end result that
people remain out of custody. Arraignment courts are packed. They bring 'em in by the busload.
It's a cattle call."

One question I tell young people going to do political work to always ask: Is the gist of this policy that someone--literally anyone--will materially suffer in order that someone else benefits? If so, it's probably not a good idea.

one of key functions of immigration raids & crackdowns is not to actually deport all migrants/refugees but to deepen conditions of social precarity & labor deportability. to make migrants more vulnerable to exploitation from bosses & landlords & banks, and to create scapegoats for austerity policies
