As a signatory to the open letter, I'm disappointed but not surprised. The Canadian govt has a weak view of digital sovereignty, seeing the US as a partner, not a threat. With a US firm's purchase of Moneris, Canada lost more control over its financial infrastructure to an authoritarian US.

"In September 2025, dozens of public figures and tech experts warned Prime Minister Mark Carney about the growing influence of U.S. tech giants on the lives of Canadians. They urged Carney to prepare a roadmap to safeguard Canada’s “digital sovereignty.”

Transportation is one of the largest emitting sectors that has gained issue salience from the local (e.g. bike lanes) to the supranational EU level (e.g. industrial policy). In my latest publication, I develop some ideas how to analyze the "mobility transition" from a political science perspective.

A must read: "Health Canada slow-walked the release of [safe supply expert] reports, devalued them with carefully selected language, leveraged a ministerial shuffle, weaponized access to information loopholes, & leaned on the DULF court case to keep the reports invisible."

If Mark Carney decides not to sign a comprehensive agreement (or any agreement) with the United States, it will amount to a reversal of a goal he’s actively and consistently sought since before the 2025 election. From March 28, 2025. www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/read...

More accurately, Weathsimple’s embrace of gambling as a business model is a reflection of Canadian financial agencies’ failure to properly regulate the financial market to prevent this unproductive, dangerous activity.

Opinion: Wealthsimple’s pivot into risky business reflects young Canadians’ financial nihilism

Facebook in Australia is paying ad revenue to neo-Nazis in its invitation-only scheme, another clear indication that Canada's Safe Social Media Act (C-34) won't work. These companies won't comply with a "duty to act responsibly." www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08...

Trying to imagine how people would react if Justin Trudeau announced he was taking a bit of a break from his supposedly full-time job as prime minister because of a previous commitment. Even better: The story doesn't even mention what Carney's side hustle is. I guess Canadians don't deserve to know?

Carney’s work hours reduced next week but his eyes still on priorities: PM’s office

Canada's prime minister will be working reduced hours for a week starting Monday because he previously committed to plans in Italy.

Canada is being asked to make a $40B bet on the past. We’re told another oil pipeline will bring national unity, economic security & prosperity. We’ve heard this before. You don’t prepare a country for the future by betting billions on the past www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...

Stoked for tonight’s Metric/BSS/Stars epic. First saw Metric & BSS in Ottawa at the end of the You Forgot it in People tour. From the first second it was clear Emily Haines was going to be a superstar. Followed by an unforgettable BSS set. 23 years later, it’s still the best concert I’ve ever seen.

I was scrolling through a list of movies release in 1987 and thinking "This must be the greatest year ever" and then I realised the list was sorted by release date and I was only at May. So anyway I made a spreadsheet and I'm going to watch them all, even Over the Top.
