Spaceballs? There goes the planet

was randomly looking around last night and Ted Turner's Braves media guide bio is everything I'd expect it to be. (R.E. "Ted" Turner has often been described as a "modern day hero among today's masses."). It's not a tag he has intentionally received though.

Ted Turner's bio from the 1983 Atlanta Braves media guide. The first line ("modern hero among today's masses") sticking out as a very Ted Turner sort of line.

Amendments 4 & 5 received a whooping at the polls. Overall, 4 finished 3% better while 5 finished better in the most populated parts of MO (and in Pemiscot, who gets their TV from Memphis). 4 finished in the low 30s in the Hannibal/Kirksville NE MO markets while 5 was under 25% in 114/115 counties

Map comparing the performances of Amendment 4 and 5 in Missouri on August 4th, 2026

really if there's any big problem with baseball, you'll see it next year when ownership groups shut the league down and keep getting richer because they make money on a lot of other things aside from baseball

Watching a Waltons episode “He was caught doing what what he does best” ME: “committing crimes!” (Episode shortly after Will Geer died where they bring back cousin Boone Walton after his moonshine conviction)

the "Name of where this is taking place" that occasionally displays at midfield of the World Cup gives off some "NCAA Tournament back in the glory days" energy (when the table at midcourt had the name of every team playing there)

on one hand, the Popeyes commercial on Telemundo doesn't translate "Big Box"... on the other hand, they do use the phrase "Sabor de Louisiana".. so maybe one of those is trademarked

I haven't checked but I think Uruguay not making the round of 32 means none of the remaining countries will have national anthems inspired by 19th century Italian opera.
