Driver mows down elite Tennessee college cycling team, killing two and injuring seven; and Michigan Make-A-Wish killer begs for reduced sentence. Seriously, I'm sick to death of shedding tears and saying prayers for bike riders I don't even know. bikinginla.com/2026/08/20/d...

A beautiful Appalachian highway became a death trap for two members of Tennessee's elite Milligan University cycling team yesterday morning.

After listening to the LA mayoral debate on @LAist, I have 2 takeaways. 1) Who does Karen Bass think has been mayor the last 4 years? It sounds like she's running against the incumbent, not is one. 2) Why did @LAist have to talk over the debate with a station ID every 10 minutes?

I give up. It's after one am, and I've spent my night writing about the third bike rider killed in Southern California this week. I'm exhausted, and it's too damn late to start writing another post. I'll be back on Friday, if SoCal drivers can avoid killing us for one damn day.

t really pisses me off that the victim can get the blame for a right hook when he's hit by the front wheel, which means that he had to be right next to the front of the truck, and the fucking driver still couldn't see him.

Victim blamed when San Diego bike rider killed by driver of big rig truck in Otay Mesa right hook Tuesday afternoon; 3rd SoCal bicycling death already this week: bikinginla.com/2026/08/13/v...

Final four posts in a thread that asserts that I'm wrong and maybe even an asshole for suggesting driving is miserable for many people. It's pointless to debate with folks who feel this way.

Spot the difference. We didn't 5x the Cycleways network in London overnight. It took vision, hard work, & the conviction to invest in green infrastructure - often in the face of vocal opposition. In 2016, we had 90km of Cycleways. Now we're at 450km. That's progress. And we're not stopping there.

Graphic with the headline, “London’s cycle network is now five times larger than in 2016.” The upper map is labelled “BEFORE 2016” and shows London with a small number of bright green cycle routes concentrated around central London. The lower map is labelled “AFTER 2026” and shows London with many more bright green cycle routes extending across central and outer London.
