Lots of the tension between “passing” and “non-passing” trans women seems to come from just those of us who started transitioning years and years ago vs. those of us who are fairly new to it—they’re often the same people at vastly different points in time.

Some people are calling this gender affirming care as a haha gotcha but this is actually directly in line with a radically anti-transsexual politics because it’s its mirror opposite—propping up the cissexual gender binary through medical intervention.

I did a large amount of psychedelics yesterday for my birthday (guided by my two partners) and when I took a bath it was the first time I felt completely happy and at peace with my body in all its imperfection for the first time in my life—pretty incredible thing

Babe I don’t care what Christians think—I think the way I do because I’m a materialist who primarily cares about how people actually show up and live in the world and I don’t care much about a theoretical inner self that may or may not exist, a self which is funny enough a pretty Christian idea!

I am always adrift on both sides of lesbian/bisexual discourse beacause I think that all that matters is what you do and not what you “are”, so sex or a relationship between two women is lesbian and sex or relationship between a man and a woman is straight regardless of identities.

I know plenty of trans people irl who aren’t men or women and don’t transition medically who are genuinely so cool, but the way non-medically transitioning queerness-as-fandom enbies are consistently the most noxiously transmisogynistic queers online it’s easy to forget

Looking at Pinterest to find reference photos for my partner’s project and it’s 99% AI slop. The internet used to be the place for everything and now it’s a hall of mirrors—time to get a book at the library by real interior designers instead of these soulless amalgamations.

In any reasonable society the DSA would be center left, with the Democrat establishment being center right and the Republicans off the map. While my personal politics are to the left of the DSA, I’m thrilled to vote for them and will never entertain voting to their right again!

Your response to “trans surgeries are not accessible for everyone” should be “we must center material demands for them to be accessible for everyone”. If your response instead is “not transitioning is actually sooooo valid and btw surgeries are dangerous and bad” you are the enemy!

Making complicated art about deeply flawed trans people is good, but the kind of people who take art as necessarily holding moral lessons either condemn it for existing or accept it by treating transition as some sort of confessional booth where all your past sins are forgiven.

The idea that the way to be a good Marxist is to throw away your class privilege and go do hard labor is part of why there are so many trust fund kids larping as poor. Real ones use their privilege to aid class struggle rather than doing this weird Christian guilt shit

A hard truth is that making declarative statements about vast parts of culture because they make you feel insecure make you look like just as much of an ass as the people doing the conflating—another way is possible

Early transition is hard and I understand why insecurities arise—lots of people are ignorant and your selfhood being conflated with a performance sucks! But there are tons of trans people exploring and celebrating selfhood through drag, and I recommend you check them out!

Drag isn't my thing and now that I'm most of a decade into transition I don't have insecurities about it, but I get the impulse! But drag culture is the child of ball culture, which was created and dominated by trans women of color. Like it or not, drag culture *is* trans culture

Yes, RuPaul as a person is a transphobic piece of shit and mainstream drag culture can be very transmisogynistic! But there's a reason the dolls have come to dominate it as they've eroded his anti-trans rules (and before dolls were allowed we appeared anyway and "came out" after)

To be kind, when I transitioned I too had conflicted feelings—my first Pride after coming out I had people mistake me for a drag queen, I've obvi had the experience of cïs women randomly telling me "omg I LOVE RuPaul"—it hurt! But seeing my first all trans drag show fixed me

An AI slop thinkpiece doesn't need to be good, it just need to churn up enough controversy that everyone talks about it until the next one drops. Precise thinking and prose isn't valued, so as long as vibes match some will eat it up. The only thing to do is to refuse to play.

Some trans social media figures are only able to get followers through churning up fake controversy so they stay on your lips—being the center of internet discourse once and a while is one thing, but if one name is coming up constantly it’s bc the drama is what they’re offering.

Transmedicalism still means “gatekeeping people from trans healthcare if they don’t conform to hyper specific gender norms/jump through hoops” but now it’s mostly used to refer to “trans person talking about how you should try HRT” or “trans woman talking about transmisogyny”

Check your reading comprehension babe, I never said anything about trans women having male privilege! Also this is a gross way to talk to another woman for saying “there is large overlap in trans and cis woman experiences and potential for solidarity” lol

Wanting to not get bottom surgery is fine, but I feel like the rise in stuff suggesting “trans women = girl with a penis” coming from trans people instead of cis people is a product of obsession with validity politics (and in some cases cope) at the cost of material demands.
