Listening to jazz 🎶. Commentary may or may not be under the influence of 🍷. The old stuff, man. Smack up!

"Usually when people don't understand something, they gonna do one of two things: either they'll fear or hate it. I don't think they should be condemned because they don't necessarily like it, but I mean sooner or later, they most likely will come around." Happy Birthday Charlie Parker 29 Aug 1920

Bird lives! "They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art..." Remembering a true virtuoso, an icon, a musical revolutionary - Charlie Parker was born OTD in 1920 in Kansas City.

First time hearing a record from the Charlie Parker label, which was ran by his widow Doris in the early 1960s. This LP was recorded by someone sneaking a tape recorder into the Savoy Ballroom in 1950 and sounds atrocious/incredible, depending on how much of a jazz sicko you are. #jazzsky #vinylsky

Lester Young - Pres is Blue, PLP-405, a 1961 release on Charlie Parker Records. Recorded from the Savoy Ballroom in 1950. I think there's a drop of water on the cover because with all the crowd noise it sounds like Pres is playing in the ocean.A blue LP label displaying side one
