“I was shocked to hear the heartbreaking news of this morning’s fatal collision on the A66. My heart and prayers, along with those of churches across our town, go out to everyone involved and to all whose lives have been changed forever by this devastating crash..."

Well being stuck on a stranded LNER train until 5 in the morning certainly brought a new dimension to the staycation but LNER staff were excellent throughout and worth it to see The Jonathan Larson Project at Southwark Playhouse (if a Jonathan Larson fan, you'll love it!).

As part of its centenary year, St Mary the Virgin, Nunthorpe, joined up with Nunthorpe and Marton Knitters to create something special for the whole community. What’s bringing joy, hope, or connection in your parish this summer? Send a photo and your story to comms@yorkdiocese.org.

The rest of the household is away for a week meaning I am on Tillydog pill duty. She literally drinks water from mouldy puddle by back door but try to get her to take pills literally keeping her alive is like wrestling an alligator. Even checking mouth & gums clear, she spits them out 10 mins later!

Looking forward to my next visit to the Amex so as to enjoy the questionable west stand red replaced by a flight of fine wines paired with a cheeseburger and different colours of starburst. Sounds like an off-dry Riesling would proper go with the orange and yellow ones @wearebrighton.com

In Jesus Christ the universal has become local and the local become personal. Local vision, local gifts, local trades learnt locally. God always has an address. A joy to help celebrate the centenary of St Michael and St George's, Castleton @churchofengland.org up on the Moors this morning.

It was a great blessing to get time on Friday at the new #Zurbaran exhibition at the National Gallery. If you're able to go, it is well worth a visit. Extraordinary images painted with vivid colour, contrast & most of all a deep Christian faith. They point to God's love and call most beautifully.

What a lovely Sunday morning with the community at Coatham & Dormanstown. Do have a look, & please share the profile (below) for a new Vicar for two communities where God is clearly at work and there is much opportunity but a role which might struggle to be seen in the wider @churchofengland.org

A joy to celebrate the amazing @teessideuni.bsky.social this evening at the Graduation Dinner, to honour honorary graduates Mark White CBE DL, Beth Mead MBE & Steve Gibson OBE, and especially to thank the astonishing Professor Paul Croney OBE as he 'retires' after 11 years as Vice-Chancellor 👏🍾🥳

Last week, people who minister to children and young people in their local churches were invited to celebrate Recognise Week at Lambeth Palace and Bishopthorpe Palace. They were all nominated by their bishops for going the extra mile to serve their congregations.

I rarely get absolutely incensed but 'bronze final'. 'Bronze final'. What are you thinking FIFA? We should boycott it for the name alone. There's no other word for it but... disgrace.

Always a treat to spend the day visiting the #GreatYorkshireShow, hearing about the current state of farming from industry leaders, meeting with NFU, CLA and FCN, and celebrating the beauty of creation and the huge difference the rural economy makes to the nation in so many ways...

What a blessed week: 5 garden parties, 300 clergy & lay leaders and their households, and clergy widows, 15 hours of piano music, more salmon than knew existed & 1 ice cream van - for the clergy kids party. Giving thanks to God for such wonderful colleagues across the archdeaconry of Cleveland.

An inspiring day visiting Cherry Burton and Warter schools with Director of Education Mari Palmer. Inspiring, creative, inclusive and impressive environments, based on strong foundations and clear values. Especially good to be led by young people in collective worship.
