@mattpocock.com said (over a year ago now, iirc) that the 'smart zone' in frontier model context was the first 10% & after that you were in the 'dumb zone'. I agreed back then, but feel that now I'm starting to see pretty good results up to at least 25%. Just me?

I'm immersed in AI-related work all day, every day. When I'm not doing it, I'm reading about it. To give an idea of how fast it's moving: I read an article yesterday that discussed a project to build a benchmark and model, and the company used 5 different SaaS services that I never even heard of!
James Bond: you think I haven’t faced death before? Supervillain: oh, I don’t expect you to die, Mr. Bond. I expect you to suffer. *opens travel funding reimbursement software I think you will find your motorboat rental and casino reservations especially complex James Bond: no. no. pls kill me
I wonder if, in the future, we'll see an article using the term "load-bearing" and immediately recognize it as being from "the AI 20's" like (in the US) we recognize "23 skadoo" as being from "the roaring 20s" (I think) and "daddy-o" as being from the 50's and "groovy" as being from the 60's, etc.
The Brewers are up 22-0 over Seattle, and one of those runs came because Julio Rodríguez caught the second out and threw it into the stands thinking it was the third.
Pretty shocked by a vendor workshop I attended, where you literally just set up a codespace, and then read and did work while moderators talked about their cats on a Zoom. WTF? Should I go back into corporate training?
I thought this was a really great read. I've been thinking about a sort of "how to use AI at work without becoming 'that person™'" or something like that, and this is right in that vein. sophiebits.com/2026/06/25/t...

New hobby: visualizing non-cloud versions of architectures that are currently in the cloud. Kinda fun!
Installed LazyVim yesterday for the first time. This looks pretty awesome. I feel like I need to audit the code because anything this cool has to be siphoning off my personal data, right? ;)
Hey, if you're a musician, poet, comic, or some other kind of performer that has occasion to seek out jams, open mics, drum circles, etc. in the US, and you use IOS, I made an app for that, and it just made it to the app store today! apps.apple.com/us/app/jamfi...
JamFinder App - App Store
Download JamFinder by DTown Labs, LLC on the App Store. See screenshots, ratings and reviews, user tips, and more apps like JamFinder.

Just submitted my first IOS app for review on its way to the App Store! I have to say, I'm thrilled with the app, but also, it took almost as long to appease Apple and check all of their boxes as it did to actually build the app! Fingers crossed it's not rejected after all of that 🤞
This is how our government has been corrupted: 1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians 2) Elected officials rewrite rules in donors' favor 3) Donors make huge profit 4) Repeat We must get big money out of politics. It’s the root of all evil in Washington.
I feel kind of out of the loop, so soliciting pointers to anything credible to explain why people are still using Twitter at all. I don’t get it. It seems like for some people reach takes priority over not supporting…. All of that. I must be missing something.
I wonder if the advent of AI dropping execution cost & timelines will make software vendors (like Slack) able to be more responsive when they make arbitrary changes to their UI (Activity) and it turns out users universally (er, I) hate it.
I cannot, for the life of me, imagine surviving a social interaction with someone described by Epstein associates as "a creep."
Other crypto figures, including the Winklevoss twins and Microstrategy’s Michael Saylor, are mentioned. Despite no evidence thus far that Saylor visited or communicated with Epstein, he still comes out looking terrible, described as “a complete creep” by an Epstein associate.
it's not that #claude desktop doesn't have issues that are probably more important, it's that none of them are as regularly infuriating as not being able to make the left pane wider.
I'm not a huge NFL fan, but I'm pretty sure the upcoming Seahawks-Rams game is going to be a better game than the Super Bowl this year. #nfl
I’m at #PyconUS in Pittsburgh. First one in a while! So excited to be back!!
Came across some #golang code using 8-character tabstops. Super unusual in my experience. Just me?
Mourning the passing of Michael Foord - a friend and sometime collaborator from the Python community. He had a unique ability to be critical, educational, and kind all at the same time, which I’ve often needed. Most important: he was a great person. He will be sorely missed. 😢
