And whatever diesel they do have is almost certainly compromised in some way. One of the reasons that Putin's columns never reached Kyiv is their engines failed from operating with poor quality fuel that had been repeatedly cut by Russian officers gleaning a bit of profit off army supplies.

I doubt Russia has tons of diesel to export. They're in a fuel shortage crisis. It'd be illegal, violating sanctions. And awful strategy while Russia is attacking Ukraine, menacing NATO allies, and helping Iran target Americans. But looks like Trump trying to jawbone markets before the midterms.

This is reminiscent to me of life in Stalin's Kremlin, and its "House on the Embankment," where the Bolshevik elite had its family apartments. A kind of insular village of itself where Stalin's inner circle lived and spent its time throwing nightly parties and visiting with each other all the time

Good morning. Federal prosecutors in Chicago filed partially redacted documents overnight in the "Broadview Six" case. The redactions appear to include the signature block (including the name) of one of the attorneys representing the United States government:

A partially redacted motion to seal a petition for order authorizing disclosure. One signature block on the document belongs to Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Walsh. The other signature block is redacted. The concluding page of a document in which "the United States respectfully requests that the court authorizes the disclosure of the unredacted Oct. 9, 16, 23 transcripts and related exhibits." The rest of the sentence is redacted.

One signature block belongs to Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Walsh. The other is redacted.

When federal prosecutors assured Judge April Perry last spring they'd had no contact with top DOJ brass while pursuing the "Broadview Six," she took them at their word. Those days are over. From me and @sophiesherry.bsky.social on Perry's fact-finding effort: chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2026/1...

Trump just threatened another federal takeover of Chicago today. F**k the lying liar who's claiming there's an "unprecedented and particularly violent crime wave." For the record: Last year Chicago had its lowest murder rate in *60 years.* And this year is on track to be even lower.
