And for the really bad news? They've put a target on VPNs. Sites are required to identify (and age-verify) any US citizen, regardless of whether they're using a VPN. In fact, the default is to get the ID and biometrics of EVERYONE unless you can somehow prove their not a US citizen.

The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.

A lot of new energy around the condition of ICE detention centers or Isntrael’s prisons comes from an ignorant electorate that knows little to nothing about prisons in America, let alone anything about political imprisonment.

We have to actually read and comprehend what the elders/ancestors say about what we MUST do for everyone’s liberation. We must fast for clarity. We have to train ourselves in the strategies/tactics that win. We have to fight with every fiber of our being because we’ll otherwise be destroyed.

Black August is a tradition of antifascism, antiwar, and anti-imperialism. This work reminds us why we all must take principled stances on Palestine and ICE, and why political imprisonment is big B bad.

There are many well-researched resources out there to read on the history but I want to situate BA within the current political landscape to connect the dots. We must be willing to ask and answer: Whose imprisonment is politicized?

Happy #BlackAugust. Comrades and political prisoners call on us to study, fast, train and fight. And *this* BA begs a kind of urgency that is hard to wrap our heads around.

I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them

Notetaking in meetings is tiny case in point - used to be some predictable social assumptions who would do it; now anyone can offer to do ”notetaking” by turning on the AI listener. Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary
