Ridiculously unaware BBC presenter on radio 4, points out the number of people classed as disabled has increased since 2019. But fails to state the obvious. We had a mass disabling event in COVID-19. We will continue to unpick the long term health (physical & mental) impacts for years.

When someone tells me they have a hill there willing to die on. I'm always curious if it is a hill they are willing to kill from. So many people seem focused on becoming a martyr to their cause, I fear they don't notice they are becoming a killer.

In accordance with ancient tradition, our next Prime Minister is announced to the nation while standing between a furry and a man with a bin on his head.

A victorious Andy Burnham MP (24,937 votes), as the result of the Makerfield by-election is announced, flanked by defeated candidates Count Binface (a bloke in a vaguely sci-fi costume with a large bin for a helmet; 95 votes) and Robert Pownall (who is in a full body fox costume, holding a sign reading "Protect British Wildlife"; 18 votes). There are some other candidates there just out of shot but that's not important right now.

It kinda surprises me when I see people I normally trust on their judgement actively supporting Trumps world cup. Promoting the competition and organising watch parties. Not just watching the football but actively encouraging others to.

Don't think people realise quite how deeply split by age current voting intention is. This is the latest YouGov for under-50s: Green: 26% Lab: 18% Reform: 14% Tories: 12% LD: 11% And over 50s: Reform: 36% Tory: 22% Lab: 16% LD: 12% Greens: 9%

One thing I should say about #UKGE is how absolutely joyous it was seeing hundreds (at least) of trans folk just being themselves and having fun playing games, surrounded by tens of thousands of allies. One day all spaces will be this good.

Currently im reading about the 1918 Flu pandemic. I hate how many parallels can be drawn between then and now. With all the cuts to American public health, it is so possible they could repeat what they did before and start another flu pandemic.

As I'm sure most of you can imagine, I am often asked by friends, colleagues, and clients what I'm most concerned about in terms of global biological risk. Even with everything that's happening right now, my answer remains the same as it was in January 2023: H5N1.

Listening to an Audiobook about the flu pandemic during WW1. Im struck by how US scientists knew flu was likely. They knew Canadian forces had a 28 day quarantine period when crossing the Atlantic. And yet the American forces didn't take that precaution & they spread Flu to europe. Millions died
