Watermarks are super important to have on your art but if it is so much that it actually begins to blur the art/make it difficult to look at I think you need a different approach Especially if it’s something like a adopt. Why would you want to buy a character you can’t even properly see?
I think more content creators/vtubers should speak out against bigotry from time to time, even at the risk of losing out on opportunities and sponsorships. The cost of authenticity is worth it if we make the world better for people who need it.
