Fourth: I think we've all discussed on this website recently how it's bad to get in bed with the MAHA types. But this is happening. Glonzo is being used as an opportunity to mend fences. The well-meaning folks don't realize the fences are electrified.

And so I think it’s been one of the most interesting political stories going on right now — the sort of strange bedfellows that have emerged. I mean, even with the data center stuff, I was talking to activists, and they said — these were liberal women who had gotten into politics after the 2016 election of Donald Trump — that data centers were the first thing that got them to talk productively with their Trump-voting neighbors about politics, the first thing in 10 years, almost. Which is fascinating to me. And in this sense, they felt a really strong sense of political agency that came out of this fight.So I think one of the big questions that folks in A.I. safety, for example, are thinking about is: Do we want to build these alliances with the rising left and right populist waves in American culture in order to slow A.I. down? Maybe it’s OK that we have different reasons and different theories for why A.I. is so dangerous. For one person, it’s: Big model — bad. For another person, it’s: Big billionaire — bad. Big Tech — bad. And those folks are sort of linking arms in a lot of ways against the A.I. accelerationists and the folks pushing the race faster.

I got two: Trump is ineligible to be president under the 14th amendment thus all his pardons and executive orders are null and void. also, it cannot possibly be the case that the Founders intended the pardon power to be a viable criminal conspiracy tool. pardons in service of crime are void as well

This is why the number one thing liberal con law people should be working on is arguments that Trump’s pardons are not valid. Obviously none of this can happen without court packing but once the new liberal court is in place, there need to be arguments ready to hand them.

humans aren't naturally particularly good or bad. the great labor of each of our lives is to *make* ourselves good, and help the people around us do the same so that someday together we can build a better world. Being awful to random people online constantly just drags you & the world the other way

contrary to what much of this site believes, your actions (in addition to, and more than your intent) matter and will modify who you are. treating people online like shit will eventually make you a worse person IRL. in order to be good you have to practice at being good.
