📣 Spotlight on Simultaneous Short Papers chaired by Michelle Fletcher This includes papers showcasing research that does not easily fit into seminar groups. We welcome papers that compare texts, tackle metacritical questions about biblical studies and appeal to a broad section of the Society.

📣 Spotlight on The New Testament and Christian Theology chaired by Sydney Tooth and Jamie Davies  - Open Sessions At our gathering in Maynooth in 2026, we invite papers on the subject of “The New Testament and Christology.”

📣 Spotlight on Synoptic Gospels and Historical Jesus chaired by Tim Carter and Séamus O’Connell  This seminar discusses the content, contexts, formation, and theology of the Synoptics from hermeneutical and methodological perspectives, as well as the Historical Jesus and Jesus in the Synoptics.

📣 Reception, Critical Theory, & Interdisciplinary Studies chaired by Siobhán Jolley and Tom de Bruin We invite proposals for papers that analyse the reception of the New Testament from antiquity to the present and/or focus on the application of critical theory to the study of the New Testament.

📣 Spotlight on Paul, chaired by Andy Boakye and Ryan Collman For 2026, the Paul seminar will host three sessions: Paul within Paganism: Restoring the Mediterranean Context to the Apostle; Divine Christology in Paul’s letters; an open session.

📣 Spotlight on Later Epistles, chaired by Nick Moore and Kelsie Rodenbiker The Later Epistles seminar welcomes proposals on Hebrews, the Catholic Epistles, the Deutero-Pauline Epistles, and other early Christian texts designated as epistolary.

📣 Spotlight on Johannine Literature, chaired by Elizabeth Corsar and Paulus de Jong Joint Session with Synoptics: John’s relation to the Synoptics. This themed session explores the relationship between John and the Synoptic Gospels, a question that has re-emerged in Johannine scholarship.

📣 Spotlight on Early Christianity, chaired by Kimberley Fowler and Jane McClarty The New Testament texts exist within the broader phenomenon of early Christianity as a whole, and this seminar is concerned especially with aspects of that total phenomenon that go beyond the New Testament.

📣 Spotlight on Book of Revelation, chaired by Martina Vercesi and Sean Ryan John’s Apocalypse in Contemporary Culture: Papers are invited that creatively engage with the reception, subversion and reimagining of the Apocalypse in contemporary film, novels, art, video games, culture, and new media.

📣Spotlight on Book of Acts, chaired by Daniel McGinnis and James Morgan Book Review Panel Discussion: This session will be a panel discussion of James Morgan’s book Perceptions of the Divine in Greek Historiography: A Hermeneutical Dilemma from Herodotus to Luke.

Spotlight on Ancient Judaism & Christianity, chaired by Yael Fisch and J. Thomas Hewitt  This year, the Ancient Judaism and Christianity seminar (formerly New Testament & Second Temple Judaism) will host two open sessions and one joint session with the Book of Revelation seminar.

Don't forget to submit your proposals for papers for #BNTS26 at St Patrick’s Pontifical University, Maynooth, 24-26 August, by Monday 13 April. We have a number of themed and joint sessions which will appeal to wider audiences, so please do explore all the sessions.

As discussed at the AGM and in Michelle's recent email, we're hoping to launch the first instalment of the BNTS newsletter in the new year. As such, I'd be grateful if you could share your news either in the comments or via email to Siobhán at info.officer@bnts.org.uk.

So it "finally" arrived through my door. I am actually really proud of this chapter, purely because I wanted to open up on the fact that experience changes exegetes (even if we like to pretend it doesn't). Thank you @davidbolt13.bsky.social for giving me a soap box to stand on!

Our final session of #BNTS2025 is a plenary lecture from Ben Wold of @tcddublin.bsky.social on 'Debt, Hunger, and the Inversion of Forgiveness in the Matthean Lord’s Prayer in light of 4QInstruction'.

It's our final day in Manchester, where the @uomreligion.bsky.social team have arranged a display of local culture ( = it's raining again). Our final seminar sessions are running at the moment, before our closing session plenary later this morning. #BNTS2025

Our second plenary session is underway, with a panel on Decolonising the New Testament Curriculum. #BNTS2025

This afternoon's simultaneous short papers are under way. In room 1 we have discussion of the historical Jesus in relation to Christian Zionism and enslavement, and in room 2 we have discussion of Codex H and the restoration of Israel in Mark. #BNTS2025

Our final paper comes from James Crossley, who is discussing the role of the Bible in the English uprising of 1381. #BNTS2025
