This is one of the acute reasons we must build more housing in San Francisco, and California more broadly. I’d love to live in a country where trans people don’t have to flee their home states for ones with better protections, but we don’t and in the meantime we need to live up to our values here

It’s not just that due process doesn’t apply to political candidates—it’s literally the opposite of the evidentiary standard for political candidates. The burden is entirely on *them* to prove to *us* that they possess the integrity and good sense to hold office.

I actually found this quote to be the most confounding. Every corridor is not a special snowflake! I'm sorry but like...this issue has been studied many many times in many many places and the other problems are...well, problems you should address. Build more loading zones and ticket double parkers!

(The association has not taken a stance on red lanes.) She noted that Ocean is narrower than those other streets, that it’s a major throughway to I-280 and that it’s not really chopped into blocks. Tsakalakis has heard people’s worries over what will happen if cars double-park or trucks can’t find loading zones, and she thinks that apprehension is warranted.

Max pulled up what I was too lazy to go dig up but absolutely everyone should understand that Supervisors predicted the outcomes of downzoning in 1978, on the record, cast dissenting votes, and were proven right. We’ve known the whole time that we need to build homes, don’t pretend otherwise

Support and Criticism For S.F. Changes Proposed residential zoning and bullding rules for San Francis co won support last night from representatives of neighborhood groups and critical comment from speakers for the Residential Builders Association. The split was evident at the first of three hearings scheduled by the Board of Supervisors planning housing and development commit-tee, which is considering the proposed major overhaul of the rules. The plan is an outgrowth of a study mandated by the Planning Commission in 1974 largely because of the deluge of piecemeal de mands it received from neighborb hood groups for tougher zoning restrictions. It would replace a planning code passed in 1960. Nearly 200 persons crowded into the supervisors chambers as the planning committee heard testimony from Supervisorial Districts One, Two and Three. Speaker after speaker repre senting the Richmond, Pacific Heights, Telegraph Hill. Cow Hollow and other areas argued that the proposed ordinance developed by the Planning Department was the product of years of effort and scores of public hearings. and uses for landmark buildings. The supporters said the plan was necessary to retain the family neighborhood flavor of the city. Builders representatives said they'd been denied opportunities to provide sufficient "input" to the plan, that portions of it are based on outmoded design concepts and that the plan ignores the economic realities of housing in the city. Vincent Walsh, president of the builders association, called the plan an attempt "by an elitist group to deny others the ability to live in San Francisco." Speaker Samuel Schneider said additional multiple bousing is the only way to relieve the city s housing shortage that he said causes inflated rents and costs for all housing.

As a reminder, in the JPCOA—the much better agreement with Iran that Trump tore up—we only, indirectly, unfroze $100 billion in sanctioned assets, and the US Treasury estimates that they were really only able to access $50 billion. Nevertheless Trump and the GOP cried to high heaven about it.

For everyone out here saying "it was a low turnout election" in San Francisco as a coping mechanism to justify previously held beliefs... The turnout for the June 2nd Primary is officially above 50%, and we still have 1,800 ballots left to count. Stop peddling lies to justify your losses
