Haitian refugees were here legally. Whether or not that status changes, they should not be treated as criminals.

I see we’ve soundly entered Black Mirror territory
New: ICE plans to spend millions of dollars on Boston Dynamics dog robots. ICE says this is to improve "officer safety." The robots can open doors, pick up objects, have 360 cameras, infrared vision, etc. Boston Dynamics didn't respond to question on its stance on ICE www.404media.co/ice-plans-to...
I feel like a little more thought should’ve gone into this heading.
Good morning friends. The world is a dumpster fire, but God remains unshakably faithful. Take heart.
How to remember the Great Lakes? Just use this handy mnemonic device, SHAME: Superior Huron America Michigan Erie
We are deporting unaccompanied immigrant children. Ages 12-17. This is our shame. www.nbcchicago.com/investigatio...
More vulnerable immigrant children face deportation after Chicago court hearing
A judge ordered six more unaccompanied immigrant children to be deported Wednesday, according to the attorneys who represent them.

Realizing how easy, in the grind of injustice, normalization of (or numbness to) that injustice is. We must not allow its normalization.
“105M that don’t share your values” is extraordinarily broad and that’s the point. I suspect the culture and values and America Bovino has in mind is whiteness. There aren’t 105M foreign-born people here. But 2021 census data shows there were ~105M non-white ppl in the US that year.
Greg Bovino: “The threat to your nation is your run-of-the-mill illegal alien,” not “the worst of the worst” Bovino: “The 105 million that don't share your cultures, your values, that don't care about anything related to America ... that's far more of a threat” www.mediamatters.org/tucker-carls...
William T. Stead, writing about the capitalist trinity (Amour, Pullman, Fields) in Chicago, early 1890s. We've been here before.
I cannot emphasize how wicked, and cruel this administration has been to asylum seekers and refugees. I am just appalled.
God bless Canada
An incredible story. The Iranian Christian woman who wrote “help” on the glass on the hotel in Panama has finally found permanent safety; in Canada. The Trump admin deported her to Panama soon after taking office, rather than let her seek asylum. Read her story 👇 www.nytimes.com/2026/08/25/w...
I’ve made a deliberate attempt to stop responding to these pieces of deportation propaganda, in part because their entire point is trolling and they WANT the angry responses. But the same time, we cannot make this stuff normal. It’s deeply wrong; a perversion of good things for fascist purposes.
I’ve lost track of the number of times an immigrant has told me they had to sit on a prison bus in the back of an airport for six, 10, 20 hours with no food or water and being told to urinate in a corner or onto themselves.
Oh no. There’s absolutely no coming back from the juvenile cruelty of this administration. It’s rotten to the core.
Yeah but Bolt didn’t smash into a wall and need to have his pieces picked up
A Chinese humanoid robot outran Usain Bolt’s 100-meter sprint world record on the opening day of the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, posting a time of 9.39 seconds — 0.19 faster than Bolt’s pace in 2009.
I've always wanted to do this one: my piece on the "terrorist charity" of late antiquity. The parabalani or "reckless ones" did some great stuff for the Church. They also killed people and started riots. Here's what we can learn from history: www.christianitytoday.com/2026/08/the-...
The ‘Terrorist Charity’ of Late Antiquity - Christianity Today
Bands of young men in the early church helped the sick and poor. They also started riots, and their history has lessons for us now.

Dale Partridge literally went on a debate to argue for the curse of ham hogwash. Yesterday. So that’s where we’re at.
Fantastic piece that captures the AI malaise seeping into my bones. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ai-is-maki...
AI is making everything worse
The political problem isn't the data centers — it's that AI is a turd mountain looming over daily life.

It’s maddening that the discourse around the wealthy and taxation is pulled taut between the poles of unfettered capitalism and Soviet-style socialism, as if those were the only true options.
Dever is no Wolfe. But I am disappointed in Dever to speak at this service without any (apparent) calls to repentance, or clarification between Christians in the US military and the US military itself. "Come out and be ye separate" - except when we don't.
It's hard to emphasize enough how much these guys just really don't like women.
Here's your daily digest for Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Christian Nationalist Twitter discussed 4 themes: 1. Thoughts on Feminism 2. Calls for Female Accountability 3. State Surveillance 4. Quoting Bible Verses
Can we please stop using the phrase “thought leader”? I mean we’re not doing “thought assistants” and “thought analysts” and “thought managers.” Maybe we just use normal words?
This is the key quote right here. There's a whole article to be written on this question as the lynchpin of religion and power in the United States. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/17/u...
Spend your response time giving 4 or 5 of the most horrific examples, then ask the rhetorical question "What do YOU think we should do with an agency that repeatedly does this kind of thing, and no one seems willing to hold accountable?"
Thanks to the folks on here still posting beauty and goodness.
